Wow, this one is a deadringer for Black Orchid, at least in the opening. The warm floral notes, patchouli & vanilla add up to a sultry, dark, tropical floral blend which, while perhaps lacking the deep, seductive power of Black Orchid, is beguiling nonetheless. The initially strong, spicy-woody aspect of the opening phase calms down over the first hour, allowing the ylang ylang to reveal itself, not in its sweet, banana-like guise, but more like a smooth, creamy vanilla orchid. There's also a faintly sweaty, cumin-like note to add interest. Fours hours in it's softened a lot, but is still very present after twelve hours.

lf you enjoy Black Orchid but find it too strong, this would make an excellent alternative, & l'd say it's easily unisex. If l didn't already own a bottle of Black Orchid, l'd definitely consider purchasing this one.
