Reviews of AnOther 13 by Le Labo

This is a light scent in the style of those Escential, nearly- or not-quite-there fragrances. As usual with such things there is the suggestion of sandalwood and a highly artificial tinge to it. So anodyne I can't muster the effort to give it a thumbs down. I kind of wish I disliked it more than I do, but today I feel sufficient empathy to understand how some might get on with this.

Starts uninteresting enough but soon dries down to skin scent of old vape. Not for me.

I got my hands on a travel vial after hearing about it forever. I fell in love with it - for the 2 hours it lasted. LOL! I love everything about it. The powdery musk on the dry down is everything I dream of. It's soft & mellow and plays very well with my skin chemistry. As I said, it doesn't last long and after the initial couple of hours enjoying this, I'm left with a faint and pleasant "clean paper" scent for a bit.

Love it, but I can't buy something though that won't last long.

Smells like a liminal space.

Soft, sterilized but not quite clean musks, has an oddly nostalgic, fragile, lived in human quality, but it's also somewhat austere, silent and uncanny.

I got a free sample, and initially I didn't want or expect to like it, it seemed quite expensive for what it is, and I just don't typically enjoy these "molecular" perfumes, but a few minutes after I sprayed it, it was an eye opener.

Another 13 it delivers on the premise of being a transparent, modern, minimalist scent, but it has a real backbone and tons of character, a trait that you don't typically find in these types of fragrances, and I don't go nose blind to it as easily. I ended up ordering a full bottle before I even finished the 1ml sample. It's really good.

Everything is not for everybody. Another 13 is definitely a winner for me. Clean musk with a nice mossy base that last all day on my skin. It is not a room filler but creates a four foot scent bubble around me that collects compliments throughout the day. I have been exposed to various fragrances that have received high praise from basenoters, YouTubers, etc that smell like urinal cakes and cleaning solutions to me, so wear what you love not what some snob thinks is chic and unique.

This fragrance presents a clean and uncomplicated Musk scent, similar to the simplicity of fragrances like Molecule 01. It is an excellent choice for individuals who prefer non-intrusive scents that won't bother others. However, considering its simplicity and performance, the fragrance may be deemed slightly overpriced.

Update 2025:I think this fragrance gets way more praise than it deserves. If it were released by a smaller or lesser-known house, most people would probably overlook it. If you’re after an “anti-fragrance,” you’re better off going for something from Comme des Garçons like Standard, or even something from Escentric Molecules. Le Labo in general feels overpriced and overhyped (Patchouli 24 is the exception), and there’s definitely a pretentious vibe around the brand. As much as I like Nathalie Lorson for creating one of my favourite fragrance, This is Him by Zadig and Voltaire, this is not it.

This is a masterpiece. And i believe that just like Santal 33, this created a whole new micro-genre of fragrance, a transparent "non-perfume", which i still think is a legit fragrance composition. This smells like new magazine, glossy magazine pages to be more precise. This is the mother of BR540, MFK should give their credits to this creation. It may seem to be boring, like i have thought, but it makes me come back for more. Give it some patience, it may deceive you, like it did to me.

This has got to be one of the most wretched aromas I have ever spent money on. I cannot believe it gets the hype it does. It reminds me of some scent in a chemical manufacturing facility that you just can't put your finger on. Unfortunately, it lingers and does last long.

A nice light fruit wood combination is killed dead by high pitched screaming wood alcohol. Screamwood. How I hate you. This is unwearable screechy pain.

A virtual wall of aroma chemicals, with ambroxan leading the pack. Clean and easy to wear, though anosmia-inducing for some. It's intended to bring to mind the soft, fresh sweetness of printed paper, and I suppose it accomplishes that goal.

Along with Ambrette 9, this smells like nothing. A stronger nothing than Ambrette 9, but still nothing.

I'm usually a fan of Le Labo but this.... This is absolutely vile. Inky, bizarrely fresh, headache-inducing. No no no. Do not waste your money on this overpriced trash.

Smells like the glue from a new glossy magazine. It's just kind of odd, a barely there non-fragrance.

Almost 10 years on and this is still quite relevant. Well, sort of. This is less a stand-alone jus and more a fragrance booster in general.

It is decidedly more masculine to my nose, presenting a pseudo-gonadotropic vibe that might be off-putting to some.

At some point in its evolution, it smells like a very well constructed Claiborne Curve, minus any headache inducing vibe.

Layers well with a wide variety of jus, and a little goes a long way.

Interesting. This smells to me like a deconstruction of a Creed smell, like what you'd get if you took away the natural topnotes from a Creed aquatic and just let the synthetics run wild.

The star of the show is ambroxan, which will smell familiar to most people thanks to Aventus - it's the lightly metallic smell, the odd synthetic woods, and the creamy richness of Aventus, all in one complex chemical. It's also got an overdose of dihydromercynol, another Creed favorite, which smells like the brightness of lavender without the actual smell of lavender. There's something synthetically lemony in the background, and some disembodied sparkle that could be aldehydes or hedione.

In all, this mostly reminds me of Erolfa, with the lemon removed but the sparkle intact. It could also appeal to fans of the similarly odd-but-satisfying chemical stew of Bond's Coney Island.

Allegedly created around the ambrox synthetic musk, Another 13 is another Le Labo fragrance, much like Ambrette 9, that I simply do not get much out of. It doesn't smell bad but it doesn't smell of much at all. Some liken it to paper, which makes sense, given that the fragrance itself was created in collaboration with Another magazine, but it smells of citrus enough to take away any likeness to paper.

It's certainly weak enough to not even consider at a Le Labo Price point, but I don't even find the scent that pleasant, but rather, an odd fruity/musky mix that I'll be steering clear of.

Again, it's not a bad fragrance, like Ambrette 9, but I simply do not experience enough of its merits to outweigh its overall oddness.

Definitely unique as they come. Very clean and pretty safe IMO. Does have a paper smell as previously mentioned. For that price, I'm not trying to smell like paper. Can be worn in warm weather because of its lightness. 7/10

Clean to the core....What does it smell like? Yes, the resemblance is there...of a brand new magazine taken out of the plastic and opened for the first time(That fresh smell of the magazine paper)... But, it is so much more than that. I use this fragrance so much in the warm weather because I never get bored with it. In general, I prefer iso e super and ambroxan and in this fragrance, both notes are pushed to the max. The cleanliness can be described as "sterile", metallic, salty sweet, velvety and smooth....NOT clean like laundry....or fresh cotton. This fragrance is very hard to dislike. Another 13 is one of my favorite offerings from this house aside from Gaiac 10.

A very clean, steely, bright and sterile wood scent with added ambrox - the latter takes over soon as the centerpiece of this composition. Towards the end a bland musky component appears. An interesting exercise in biochemic dissection that remains dull overall. Maybe one could order it directly from Firmenich at a discount price. Limited silage but decent projection, with a good longevity of five hours. In case of a headache the salicylate might come in handy and one might save on the aspirin.

Le Labo does Escentric Molecules. Or should I say Le Labo does L'Antimatiere? Whatever....

An "invisible" concoction with absolutely no animalic notes detected. This is the purest woody amber and that's it. What it smells like? Cedarwood, other woods, even more woods, metallic amber. Sometimes it's sharp, sometimes velvety, sort of clean and very minimalistic. Just like Escentric 01 or L'Antimatiere, the level of appreciation of Another 13 is strongly related to your personal grade of anosmia to the aromachemicals involved in the composition. Upon application it strikes as a sharp metallic amber to then quickly disappear from your body. You think it's gone but no way. There it goes again, on and on and on....and on with its unmistakeable woody amber aroma.

Do I Like it? Yes, well sort of. Let's say it's very pleasant and, because of that, it's not a case that woody amber became one of the most common bases in modern perfumery but be aware that Another 13 it's far from being artistically relevant or innovative. That being said, if you find it for cheap (almost impossible), get it...otherwise, seal you wallets as you'll get bored in no time.

Us usual with Le Labo, unappropriately labelled. I guess "Yet Another 13" could have been a better name.

Note: It could have been a mild thumbs up if it weren't for the outrageous price tag but at these prices I expect something more than a plain woody amber.

This fragrance is not made to please everybody at first. If you get your nose on this particular fragrance you will be surprised because there is no other fragrance such as this one out in the market. I appreciate this fragrance for its simplicity and yet not giving up the concept of complexity, do I reach for this everyday, NO!, but when I feel like I need to smell different and mysterious, this is what I reach for.

Have you ever wanted to feel the musky, woody, ambery base of several masculine fragrances, but in it`s most pure form? Well, if this is your wish, le labo granted it with this exclusive creation. What you smell is a aroma that seems like a stripped amber, with the animalic facets toned down and without the intense honey-propolis aroma that some ambers have. It`s a watery, but persistent amber facet, with a velvet, cashmere touch, some hints of cedar, some of sheer honey, and a creamy musk. The scent is quite linear, pleasant, but it seems like a base of a fragrance without any top or heart notes. It`s like they have composed a presentation material to show you all the facets that ambrox can have - and decided to sell this under a exclusive tag to the consumer.
