Aqua pour Homme Marine Toniq

Released in 2011 as part of Bvlgari’s aquatic family and designed by Jacques Cavallier‑Belletrud this fruity "tonic" (spacious pear plus fizzy grapefruit and probably lime's green "minty" peels) freshly marine accord unfolds a energetic blend of salty ozonic patterns and fruity notes on a typically sporty woody cedary base. Minimalistic but definitely not simplistic. The ozonic accord (salty iodate patterns plus seaweeds) is noticeable and central. The seaweed Posidonia note gives character preventing the juice to smell pale and overly generic. A tonic presence of freshness evokes the oceanic breeze and the the refreshing dreamy sea-air's effect. Dry down is subtle, virile and never overwhelming. This fragrance is definitely perfect for carefree summers, beach and casual daytime wear while the seaweed/tonic vibe is appealing and fruity (preventing the juice to be overly "fishy" salty or generic). Performances are somewhat weak, either longevity and projection, since Aqva Pour Homme Marine Toniq does not last longly and after several hours it becomes skin‑close. Definitely I get similarities with Giorgio Armani Acqua di Gio 1996 (citrus plus aquatic notes but the latter being less seaweed/salty‑tonic-oriented and more finally smooth-ambery, citric and classically aquatic) and Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt 2022 (if you like marine scents but less aquatic, gentler, greener, mossier - coastline refered - and with herbal depth). A nice take on the seeweed fruity theme and a solid choice for the lovers of genre.

Synthetic disgust on the open, dreamy on the dry down and perfect on the price. 4 out of 5

Better than the first Aqua Marine No problems with longevity, not that I'm saying there was with the first version. All in all this one is a bit more refined and less synthetic, but despite that unimpressive and not quite memorable fragrance. I'd been wearing Bvlgari Aqva since 2009, and I decided to try the Aqva Pour Homme Marine Toniq a few months after it came out. I'm glad I did.

When I first apply it, it kind of smells like Mandarin Oranges on my skin. A few minutes later, it develops into a watery/salty fragrance that is still balanced with the oranges.

I actually like this better than the regular Aqva because it's not as harsh and it's more likeable from more people. I won't have to go around worrying that it might offend people. I'm not sure of how good the longevity is, because after about 5 hours, I stop smelling it, but I think other people can still smell it. I also can't compare this one to the original Aqva Marine because I never really had a change to properly test Aqva Marine out. I've never owned that one:(

If you can, try it BEFORE you buy it, as this is not for everyone. This is not something I can wear every day, but it is something that I'm proud to have in my wardrobe:)
