Reviews of Blu Mediterraneo : Bergamotto di Calabria by Acqua di Parma

Can't say I particularly like this. It doesn't evolve into anything interesting. It does smell fresh so to speak but not exciting otherwise. Longevity is also not great.

Refreshing but a little generic with medium longetivity.

Bergamot opening is very obvious but nice. There's something floral mixed in with all the citrus.

Very nice beach/sunny day/Italy scent. I'll definitely take it on any beach vacation I might go on (screw you Covid).

The bergamot is great - fresh, lemony and truly refreshing, lovely!
It is, however short lived, as is expected from the citrus-based opening of such a Cologne.

The drydown sets out by developing an agreeable ginger note, which is followed by rather nonspecific renderings of white floral and fruity notes, with an equally nonspecific woodsiness in the background- not much cedar on me.

The base sports a vetiver that is quite perfunctory, as is a benzoin that raises its diminutive head at times. All this is likes together by some white musks.

I get soft sillage, limited projection that is poor after the top note, and an overall longevity of four hours on my skin.

A summer scent of the usual ilk this house is known for, with bright top notes that are crafted well, but dragged down by being overly generic and performing abysmally otherwise. Overall 2.75/5.

Initial blast made me think of a lime popsicle but not in bad way.
After a bit it cools down you get to appreciate it develop into something more mature/sophisticated, which contrasts the playful top notes surprisingly well.

It gives off sort of a coconut/suntan lotion vibe that this house seems uses as the dna for most of the fragrances in this line.

Smells like old money on a beach somewhere in the Mediterranean

Wonderful fizzy/effervescent citric intro, one of the best I've experienced! The intro was truly spectacular for this novice nose.

However, projection was extremely poor - especially for an EDT at this price point. Longevity, as a skin scent, was average. I could smell faint wafts throughout the day.

There wasn't much progression throughout the life of this ADP, so if that's important to you try to sample first. I love the character, so the linear feel to this one was acceptable, today. Though that aspect may make for less use over time.

In my opinion, not full bottle worthy at any retail price I've seen. A good deal on a partial with box & cap? It would have to be a real good deal.

Excellent citric opening, as you would expect. The key questions are: does it last, does it develop in any interesting way? The answer: not really. It's one of those where more longevity is needed to give the rest of the notes a proper run-out. I get ginger and some of the other listed notes, but it's fleeting. Perhaps with more generous application? That's for another day.

Gorgeous!!! Summer in a bottle. Longevity is awful otherwise I would own a bottle!!

Very light, refreshing lemon citrus in the opening mixed with floral notes for a very clean and unisex effect. The florals continue into the drydown mixed with a soft musk, making this lean more feminine to me. In the final phase, I get mostly soft musk and vetiver which is pretty nice and not as feminine.

Performance is interesting as the projection is below average during the entire development but I actually got all workday longevity. I sprayed on my clothes and that seemed to help a lot.

Bergamotto di Calabria is a beautiful fragrance, simple, elegant and just lovely. I find it quite intoxicating.

Yes the performance is certainly not the best, but this is one of those rare moments for me when the overall effect of the fragrance makes up for it's performance woes IMO.

It does remind me slightly of Sel de Vetiver but only briefly. It also reminds me of Dior Homme Cologne to some extent, but it is better to my nose than the Dior. It reminds me of many fragrances in part, however none capture the magic that this possesses for me.

This is what I might have imagined Grace Kelly to waft of in "To Catch a Thief", though I realize the movie was in Nice.

I realize there are a million versions of this type of fragrance, but this for me is very, very special. It is the best of summer in a bottle.

Bergamotto di Calabria embraces the semi-bitterness of the eponymous bergamot note, which stands out above all else and is mainly paired with a musk base.

I haven't tried many fragrances that rely solely on bergamot, not coupling it with another citrus or top note, but this is almost a refreshlingy bitter take on a citrus-heavy fragrance. Its opening only is slightly saltier and more acidic than its dry down. Longevity and projection are on par with most other ADP fragrances, good but not great.

Most reviews cite similarities to Dior Homme so I'd have to try that to compare, but as it stands, this is a pleasant warm weather day fragrance. Still debatable if it merits the Acqua di Parma price, cheaper designer options notwithstanding, but something that I imagine most men and some women could pull off in the summer especially. I probably wouldn't opt to buy this as I get a similar-enough experience from the cheap, grapefruit-based Elixir White by C.O. Bigelow, but some may find ADP BdC more compelling.

Pleasant, powerful opening, not much deep neither rich (we're in quite a chemical realm here, forget the "Bergamot of Calabria" – more "Autan insecticide" - maybe purchased in Calabria, that's fine). Classic summer cologne base of delicate flowers, ginger, aromatic woods. After a while you get the vetiver note better. Mellow soft musky feel. Must say it is barely pleasant, and plus, it "tones down" in a matter of minutes, becoming a subtle, close-to-skin floral/talcum scent with fresh notes and a slight aromatic vetiver feel. Basically a decent, super safe and quite elegant "eau de cologne" like plenty of others. Strictly for "parvenus". Short persistence.

On me, this smells like sweet grape candy mixed with the stench of hot toner ink and rubbing alcohol over the smell of a wooden board. Some jasmine comes in eventually, but it just makes the fake grape smell like grape bubblegum, before the sweetness dies away altogether, leaving nothing but a sneezy rubbing alcohol smell for most of the day.

There's a very ubiquitous mix of windex and grape drink that's incredibly popular in the men's designer scent market - Bergamotto is obviously trying to appeal to fans of that combination, with just an extra pinch of flowery sweetness and that odd ink smell to keep it from smelling like everything else. To be honest, when I first sprayed this without looking, I assumed it was a Hugo Boss or maybe a Kenneth Cole or a Nautica. If you're a diehard designer fanatic looking for his first niche, then Bergamotto may be a good entry point, but it's not really for me.

Bergamotto di Calabria opens with a sparkling bergamot lemon-like orange citrus... and that is pretty much what you get for the duration. Supporting the citrus to a very minor degree is a bit of transparent vetiver, slightly sweet vanilla-like benzoine and non-animallic light musk. The scent is completely linear throughout. Projection is below average and longevity is below average to average.

There is not much I can say about Bergamotto di Calabria... It is a simplistic, pleasant smelling bergamot scent that delivers the goods for what it promises; noting more, nothing less. I happen to love bergamot and enjoy smelling it plenty while drinking Earl Grey tea and also as a dominant ingredient in far superior scents like Coeur de Vetiver Sacre by L'Artisan, but when near isolated like it is here it gets boring rather quickly. The fact that the fragrance is relatively short-lived and extremely linear does not help and I find myself looking to move on to more interesting compositions quickly. If you are looking for a bergamot soliflore, then this could very well be what you seek and worth a sniff but I give Bergamotto di Calabria a middling 2.5 stars out of 5. Agreeable, but mind numbingly mundane and disappointingly very average.

This is a pleasant, well-made scent. It doesn't make a big statement nor it is particularly original. However, it wears well and is enjoyable.
Phase one is a very good citrus basket of lemon and plummy bergamot. This is clean, refreshing, and renders the citrus notes accurately.
Phase two brings ginger and a bit of wood. These work well together. A hint of grassy and even nutty vetiver lurks in the background.
The scent is not heavy or sweet. It sits quite close to the skin.

why?

very simple.. it lasts 7-10mins.. and is gone. i mean gone gone..like you never had it on.

why do this? who in this world would like to smell good for 7mins? unless you have a personal assistant who walks along side you re spraying you everytime it fades out. lol

skip it and diss it.

Fairly nice fragrance that presents bold orange / bergamo note throughout wear that is accompanied by woodsy cedar and a slightly waxy soapy candle note that can be a pleasant distinction but may make the "unisex" classification suspect. Men may not want to wear this and certainly wouldn't in any sort of mixed or formal/professional environment. Still, it is an intriguing fragrance worth trying out. The benzoin is there only slightly and isn't as medicinal as it often can be. Lasts 5-6 hours on skin.

Not much complexity. Short longevity. Moderate silliage. Disappointing overall.

A wonderful blend of lime, bergamot, some floral note and greens finally softened by musk and by a touch of benzoin due to tame the earthy feel of vetiver and some corner around. Airy and a bit salty in the way it conjures slightly one of my favourite fragrances in the world, the lovely Sel de Vetiver.  It reminds my land, Calabria, in its meals consumed close to the sea and with the salty and floral breeze blowing on your face. Wonderful.

Pretty much linear throughout the whole lifetime of the fragrance. Smells nice, but I would agree that it can become boring quickly. A great summer fragrance, and a good fragrance for teens and college kids.

Nice smell but longevity is short so is sillage. It's a natural smell, you can feel quality, it's well made, but it's a short lived pleasure.I was looking for this kind of fragance for summer, but with better sillage and longevity, i can't spend so much money on 1/2 hour of scent.

Reminds me when I take a lemon wedge and squeeze it into my glass of water at a restaurant! All the lemon oils stick to my hands through the night. This makes me feel right at home, but I think I might need to buy the body lotion and use it with the EDT in order to get more lasting power out of it...

Pleasant but oh so dull. Plus, at the risk of sounding shallow, that bottle makes it look like an upmarket room spray which puts me off somewhat.
