Chopin opens like a grand old white floral, with jasmine indoles imparting a slightly greenish cast and iris keeping things cool. White florals, alas, aren’t my favorite, so I’m really here for what follows. Once enough time has passed, the conifer accord and Mysore sandalwood add welcome woody depth to the peculiar, pickly sourness of the jasmine. It’s the chypre accord, however, that makes Chopin.

Some seriously old-school stuff, to be sure, but there’s a reason TR didn’t name it “Bieber.” While the jasmine note keeps Chopin from being my favorite TRNP, it’s still excellent of its type, and should be on the want list of vintage white floral fanatics.
