Coty – Cordon Vert (1905)

One of Coty's earliest scents, this attempt at a unique eau de cologne, has been nearly forgotten by Coty fans. It is worth finding and experiencing.

This is the greenest of eaus, with an intense lime, combined with galbanum, which literally assaults you on the first splash. This is supported by a number of citrus notes: lemon, mandarin, and verbena. While the true citrus notes fade with time, the herbal verbena continues, paired with the galbanum.

There is a hint of spice with the carnation and the lavender, patchouli and oak moss give the dry down a firm base. Petitgrain provides a bit of woody sweetness as well.

This is quite an intense eau de cologne and has kept its integrity over time. My bottle is from the 1940s. Very worth seeking out for lovers of eaus.
