Why did they even need to make another one? The original and the parfum already nailed it—so I guess the answer is obvious: money. Still, this release feels unnecessary. It strays pretty far from the original and honestly reminds me of something out of the Le Male lineup. When I first smelled it, I kept wondering where the leather went. It feels like Tom Ford tried to make their own version of Le Male and just slapped it under an existing line to move bottles.

I was expecting a lighter version of Ombre Leather, but instead, this leans more into a dirty leather. What’s gone is the dryer sheet clean-freshness of the original that mixes so nicely with the rugged leather. Sorry, but I’ll take any version of the original over this, and I have a feeling most of the masses would as well. For leather aficionados, this could be something to sample.

Projection is decent with only a few sprays, and longevity is good. You can still smell it 7-8 hours after spraying, but without clearing the room at any point.

A textbook example of how openings can be misleading and disappoint within minutes. Eau d’Ombre Leather is a vile, insipid melange of synthetic leather atop a darkened vanilla and amber. Cardamom stays present throughout the wear. Performance is below average and the whole composition is dreary: powdery desperation and futility rule the day in much the same way as the equally disappointing Noir and Noir Extreme.

And let me tell you: it’s a scrubber. If your grandmother dumped her purse on a table before dying in a shoe store, this is what the fateful event would smell like. I showered and laundered my clothes immediately after sampling.

In a blind test this could be just another fluffy sweet PdM with a pearl finish

The worst of all the versions IMO. The leather note smells like plastic and rubber. The only plus is that it is lighter, which may be good for those who thought the other versions were too strong. The minus is that if doesn't really smell like the other versions IMO. Projection and longevity is below average. 6/10
