Reviews of Higher Energy by Christian Dior

Show: All Reviews
Smells like a clean, 90's scent with some nice freshness and spice, but it's not big on anything other than smelling like an Eternity flanker. Pretty average but versatile.

Projection is good and it does seem to last for most of the workday on my skin.

The first whiff I got from this was like a blast from the past, and that blast's name is Eternity for Men by Calvin Klein (1989). And then Eternity had a bastard child with Pasha by Cartier (1992), and Higher Energy (2003) was born (hey, the timeline kind of works in my make-believe scenario!). That's what I'm getting from this stuff.

It is by no means a bad scent, but it is by no means a great or even a really good scent. Dior said that this was aimed at a younger crowd, and by golly they made a scent for the younger crowd. I truly believe that men over 30 should never wear this; it smells like something a teenager would wear. Or something that a teenager whose parents have money would wear. Honestly, if you were to tell me that this was some drugstore scent, I wouldn't doubt you, though I might qualify it by saying that it was a pretty well-made drugstore scent. The initial blast definitely has that synthetic Eternity sharpness to it (the grapefruit/pineapple acidic note harkening Eternity's mandarin note), but it mellows down into a Pasha-like fresh fougere, which makes this seem like an odd scent to me, as it was created in 2003, but really smells like something out of the late '80s/early '90s. This is not bad stuff, but it reminds me of that bottle of Jazz by Yves Saint Laurent (1988) that I have, in that they are not too dissimilar scent-wise, and that the odds of me wearing it again are pretty slim, though you never know.

I'm not giving this a thumbs down, as it didn't offend my sensibilities in any way, but I can't in good conscience give this a thumbs up. The sillage is pretty good and the longevity is solid, as well, so if you actually like this fragrance, that's good news. But as far as the scent itself, I find it to be a rather uninspired re-hashing of older stuff. Higher Energy (it sound like something President Trump would say Jeb Bush needs) is like frozen pizza. It's inferior in basically every way to freshly made pizza, but it has its place for some. There are so many better options than this, but for some, this is what turns their crank. With that said, I'd say that I'm being somewhat generous in my neutral rating of this one.

It's nice to finally sample Dior Higher Energy, a purportedly fresh and sporty take on the more provocative, earlier Higher, which is now discontinued and I've not sampled.

Higher Energy is quite reasonable in most respects as a designer freshie, balancing freshness and being quite pleasant and agreeable with some degree of provocativeness. Pineapple and grapefruit are familiar opening contributors, while juniper and mint spike up the mix a bit. The fragrance dries down into a heart of incense and pepper, giving way to a base of what comes off to me as sandalwood, musk, and perhaps cedar.\

It's not specifically very masculine but perhaps leans slightly masculine with the inclusion of the pepper and incense, specifically, but it's a quite pleasant unisex freshie fragrance overall, more ideal in composition for warm weather but also due to performance, which isn't great, with mediocre projection and longevity.

Pricing is fair at $55 for 100ml on FragranceNet. I don't see any standard retail sources (like department stores) still selling it, so Higher Energy seems to be confined other retail sources (i.e. Walmart, vendors) and the secondary market.

One I'll likely try to acquire as, if I had to guess, this too will be discontinued at some point.

The opening is quite pleasant with grapefruit, lemon and mint, but awfully generic. There is a bit of light pepper in the drydown, and the base on my skin is a dull wood and vetiver. Very generic and boring, will poor silage, limited projection and two hours longevity on my skin. Negative.

A guy who spends a lot of money that isn't his. Drives a car that is someone else's concern. Always moving. He is wearing really crisp, clean clothes. He stands out but not due to his lavish spending but because of how straight forward and simple he is dressed.

Very James Bond.

This fragrance smells amazing on me. From the moment my body begins to warm this fragrance up it truly is amazing. Actually, a female roommate of mine once loved it so much on me (she would literally start following me around the apt) she went out and bought it for her boyfriend. That bottle of fragrance was good to his love life.... so idk. Maybe it's just something about my body chemistry...

The "Higher Energy" in this one, with a name-resonance with "Higher Power" is really a higher price for starting with something horrible (Higher) and then welcoming the "improvement?" The best thing to keep close to your skin with this one is your money...midway you'll think you might have unknowingly showered without soap and partially washed off this allegedly "youthful" mash.

A clandestine in the business!I have finally understood why its discontinued in the production. After 20 minutes is smell like dogpoo.Well, fresh dogpoo, on a hot asphalt, mix it with a few grapefruits, and a mint chewing gum, and you are there.Whos fault, you tell me?Well, its obviosly the strong vetiver note.A vetiver in the basnotes is a bad misstake, blended with the excellent topnotes, the fresh midnotes, and the strong cedar notes, it smells like a freshly laid dog excrement!Well, you have been warned.NOT suitable for older persons in the age of 30-99 ears.MAYBE it will work if you are like 15-25 ears of age.But you have been warned, Let not the top and midnotes charm you!Chame on you vetiver, chame on you indeed, for fooling the Dior-team!Remake it and take away the vetiver note! But for now! i give...

How kind of Christian Dior to launch something that smells exactly like all the magazine samples I have tried over the years. That subtle blend of printing paper and chemicals is quite a feat. Perhaps there is a demographic of fragrance loving printers that would really dig this. This is simply too bland to be anything, even calling it nondescript is endowing it with more virtue than it deserves.

The synthetic fresh/citrus notes clash with the bitter/herbal/spice notes. So I feel this is a poor construction.

Fresh fragance but generic at the same time. Very traditional, without surprises and without aura, enigma or whatever. Too safe for my taste. I prefer Eau de Sauvage 100 times more!Neutral....Coz is Dior....Good family...but must be better.

The original was terrible. Smelled like insect repellent. This is much better. Sour fruits with cedar and pine. Not bad but not great. Good for casual wear.

You know, I just reviewed the original Higher, and I spoke about how it STUNK (ye olde man scent, along with Michael by Michael Kors)I talked about how it made me gag (Pepper smell)...and how (thankfully) short lived the scent was.But this....Higher Energy, is not actually bad. It's not "good" either, but it's not bad. On my skin, it's real citrusy, but then dries down within 20mins to the same spicy musky scent of the original (which stinks to my me)Higher Energy is a scent that wears close to the skin. The longevity isn't as bad as the original, but it's not much better. (perhaps, an extra 45-60 minutes beyond the original 10?). Okay, I guess that is an improvement, lol!In any case, it's an "okay" scent (smells like Calvin Klein's Escape but with a smidgen of bass), but it's not great enough to buy a bottle. (I purchased a sample)I'll say this though. DEFINITELY an improvement over the original. ECK!~Journey

I like this one much better than HIGHER. I really adore the way the nutmeg and sandlewood work together, very interesting and well done. The musk at the very base is also nicely done, not overbearing, and it truly does stay close to the skin. The opening is great! Reminds me of a good ole heady night out in Amsterdam raving! GREAT, GREAT, AND GREAT! Nice job. VIVA DIOR!

Foetidus is right, not innovative at all. I was looking for the fragrance by Dior that I smelled out of a magazine and I thought it was Higher Energy. Even my taste has drastically changed since then or I am waay off here.

16 out of 19 reviews are Negative (9)or Neutral (7) for this one which seems a bit harsh. I have been smelling this on a card for the last 4 hours and have to say it has dried down to a very pleasant floral woodsy accord which I love (even though there is no mention of any floral notes in its composition)I believe it is classified as a woody fougere. Not mad keen on the Grapefruit opening but this one just got better and better with the dry down. Maybe HE deserves a little more attention/time to fully appreciate.

Not a very innovative scent. Very much like everything else one can get at the department store fragrance counter. Grapefruit–the current citrus star with the necessary coniferous to back-up and to stretch-out the citrus note. Nutmeg and pear–some of the mass market spice and fruit sweethearts. It's fragrance by formula. I do like the middle accord–but then, I'd like almost anything with nutmeg and incense. The dry down is weak as is normal in most of these types of scents. Rather good longevity. Actually, this is a pretty good scent–but it is just so predictable and uninspired and ‘me-too.'

This is definitely a crap. Smells like old man fragrances: too much pine and bitter essences.Indeed, long lasting but not promising.

Reminds me of a glass of gin with a twist of lemon & sprig of rosemary! It's also what I'd describe as "sheer". Wears very close to the skin after drydown. Due to its sheer nature, would be a pretty good choice of fragrance during the heat of summer...although there are others I prefer.

Fahrenheit would be my Dior number 1 fragrance and this would be my last. I purchased once and that was my last buy. Nothing special, it smells like typical fresh male fragrance. I will never ever buy this one again eventhough it comes with free sling bag or pouch for every purchase.

On my skin, the top note is lemon + benzoin, it's a citrical fragrance, but in me isn't long-lasting, it disappears very fast-the basenote, instead is lasts longer but its very weak(you can smell its fragrance when you are very close). I've had other perfumes that are notlong-lasting but Higher Energy TAKES THE PRIZE...anyway. I'm waiting for this Summer-time to try again (sometimes some perfumes are better in summer-time) because I like the fragance (and the girls likes too)I'LL give it the second chance.

Starts out well, so promising, fresh, but can't hold a candle to the original, and fades on my skin within minutes.
