Reviews of Love, Chloé by Chloé

Spring-like top notes. Femme. Obvious floral. Lots, of flowers. I got notes of hiacynth and wisteria straight away. I get a somewhat soapy feel from this frag so far. Faint wisps of iris and heliotropine appear. Dusty notes move in later. Very dry. Clean, too.

Maybe I'm becoming a perfume snob. More and more mainstream perfumes just don't "do it" for me. This, is one of them...

I just bought this and am wearing it today- I'm already in love! I used to own the intense version but that one has a very strong musk that makes it go a bit animalic. This is more delicate and clean, but make no mistake, it is not weak by any means. I get a very noticeable sillage and average longevity at around 6-7 hours.

This is a powdery iris that is blended so well that it almost smells like cream. I definitely detect the rice powder that gives it that milky sensation. The powder accord doesn't veer too synthetic and it doesn't smell like baby powder. This is a taclum scented perfume, not a perfume scented talcum if that makes sense. And it doesn't smell dated or like it could be out of place on anyone. This could be used by women (people) of all ages who just want a no nonsense pleasant powdery perfume.

This really reminds me very much of Prada Infusion d'Iris in the eau de toilette formulation (the one with the frosted glass bottle) but this one has better performance and the iris is less pronounced, but still detectable. I have, love, and need both in my collection. I consider Prada to be my Spring/Summer powder go-to, and this one could be suited for any time of the year.

I never know if this one is discontinued or not, I hear different things from different sources all the time, but I'd say regardless if you can find this at a reasonable price or even at retail, it's worth it. If you like Prada Infusion d'Iris or powdery scents in general, I highly recommend this. I do not however, recommend the Love Intense unless you like a bit of naughtiness in your scents.

The powdery purple blooms of lilac, wisteria and iris play hide and seek behind the musky essence of base notes. The play ground event supports the presence of light spicy sparkls of pink pepper. Excelllent mix of notes into this game results a superb score 4.5\5.

I bought a 30 ml bottle of Eau Intense to begin with and reviewed that, so I got to wondering if the lighter original might be easier in warmer weather, so I bought that one also. My addiction to perfume and cosmetics are represented in Love Chloe and the rice just floats my boat. I guess it represents that rice powder fragrance of a compact. The heliotrope is lovely, easier to wear than L"Heure Bleu, cheaper than Misia, endures on my skin without turning into anything else and convinces me hour by hour that it is was created with love, hence the name. Let's spell it out, I don't think this now discontinued perfume was created for being in love or as a motif of brand love, but from love, a love of that lipstick, powder and perfume.

At first the scent reminded me of Bulgari pour Femme, which I used to like but ended up finding it too powdery and overwhelming and gave my bottle away some years ago. I can't really pick out any individual floral notes from Love, Chloé. It seems it's not just about iris but an overall impression of the smell of cosmetics. These notes might work in creating a feminine aura for someone who enjoys wearing makeup.

Later I noticed that the scent had remained in my gloves and I found it quite pleasant in them. It seems more suitable for leather items than my skin.

Tried this today for the first time and it's absolutely divine on my skin, so although I'd vowed that I wouldn't buy any more perfumes because they all resemble one I already have, I HAD to buy this. It slightly resembles my bottle of Guerlain Insolence, but only so far as the powdery notes and a hint of iris. Otherwise, this is creamy and delicious, very feminine and quite romantic and daydreamy, whilst being sophisticated and sexy. I think it's absoloutely gorgeous overall.

I noticed a slight hint of something that reminds me of pear in it though, which fits it really nicely, but I'm not sure what note exactly is making me feel that. Oh well, in love with this, definitely a new favourite, and could quite possibly be my new signature!

It may sound weird but I really like the 'Love, Chloé' Body Lotion - whereas the EdP itself is much too strong and headachy for me.
Warm (I smell a touch of cinnamon), old-fashioned in a mignonne way, this scent embodies perfectly the notion of the word "Boudoir" - you feel like wrapped in a sweet, velvety, nostalgic talcum powder (which I would never use).

I read all these reviews prior to testing Love by Chloe, so the strong baby powder note did not take me by surprise nor did it revolt me.

What I did not like about this fragrance was its strong, almost sharp, powdery presence. The brand Chloe is really not for me. I didn't like the new Chloe and its flankers, nor did I enjoy this.

It smells like babies and strong floral-scented soap. In small quantities this could be nice, but it seems to be too much of everything. Just smelling this now is giving me a headache and I rarely get headaches from perfume.

I loved the bottle, with its classic simplicity, and while the scent does match it with its classic appeal, I feel that this is just way too overpowering. Love by Chloe tries so hard to make a statement when I really don't think it needs to.

All those floral notes when blended with the pink pepper makes the scent rather astringent. They were aiming for a clean, pretty and feminine floral, yet what I get is a sharp floral with air-freshner undertones.

So the sillage is obviously a monster, and the longevity is also quite big. Just a tad too cloying in my humble opinion.

Definitely thumbs up for me. Love, Chloe is an example of how one's body chemistry makes all the difference. On me, at first it's very strong, but within seconds dries down to a very warm, soft and sexy fragrance. My boyfriend loves it. However, one doesn't need to use too much. Two sprays will do fine and I mean light sprays. Very much worth the money for me...one who never can get fragrances to last.

Love, Chloe to me is the most memorable fragrance I have ever smelled or worn. It captivated me the moment I first smelled it, it is unlike any other,a very unusual, absolutely mesmerizing fragrance and to me probably the most unique scent as well.
It definitely contains vintage accords, notes most would not use today which contributes to its uniqueness but it is somewhat of a modern take on a vintage perfume, with awesome sillage and lasting power but without a headachy heaviness. Complexity, femininity, yet wearability all in one.
I can easily picture someone like Marilyn Monroe wearing a fragrance like this, a sultry sexy woman but with lots of class and elegance. In fact, in my opinion the ad does not do it any justice but that is what I often find to be the case. The ad only captures the elegance and femininity side of this beautiful fragrance but without the unique sultriness I find just as important in it and without the vintage nuances of the fragrance.
It is a very characteristic scent which people would notice on you and compliment on. In fact, it is the fragrance I have gotten the most compliments on both from men and women alike and it has started a Love, Chloe craze at work. I do wear it for work too on occasion but still I think this is more of an evening or special occassion scent, one you would dress up for and not to be worn with jeans and one you would want to wear when you want someone to notice and remember you. Of course this is in part due to its uber feminine character.
As many great fragrances, it is one that will divide people, some will love it and some will hate it but it will not leave anyone indifferent. The clean notes, which some would call old lady (and BTW, noone has ever made that comment when smelling this on me and I do not personally get it either) the soap or powder in it in my opinion provides great contrast which makes the fragrance perfectly balanced, you cannot distinguish any note separately, maybe a little bit of the florals (rose especially) but it is perfectly contrasted or otherwise we would only have one of the gazillion boring florals. The Hyacinth and heliotrope give its unusual very feminine and sexy floral character and the orange blossom and pepper make it more modern. The rice and peru balsam contribute greatly to the depth and special character of this fragrance.
The woman I see wearing this is a very feminine, classy, confident but yet sexy woman, who dares to stand out from the crowd and is aware of her own attractiveness. It is an ode to femininity and to be one of the very best ever created. I kept going back to this and I will never be without a 50 ml bottle of this fragrance as when during any season I need to feel like a woman, I can spray my Love, Chloe which would make me feel more attractive, more sexy and more feminine.

Could love, in the end, be insipid?

CHLOE LOVE falls squarely within the subcategory of office-ready inoffensive fruity-floral frags perhaps best labeled "sweet laundry scents". I've smelled quite a few of these compositions of late, and my guess is that they are being put out in an effort to capture the market niche of both the fruity-floral crowd and the personal-hygiene obsessed in one fell swoop--and I mean that, I really do. The ever-expanding membership of the latter faction in contemporary Western (especially American) culture has spawned a plethora of non-perfume perfumes exemplified by the offerings of the house of Clean but found in many other places as well.

Basically, the story is pretty familiar, even hackneyed: slightly sweet and very vague "abstract" (aka "synthetic") florals mingling in a clean musky base with a light touch of vague woodishness and a soupçon of soap. Unremarkable and entirely forgettable, well, except that on my skin CHLOE LOVE dries down with a slight twang reminiscent of some of the Clean non-perfumes. The twanginess is just unpleasant enough to render the excellent longevity of this fragrance not a virtue but a vice.

Orange-juice-bugspray-medicinal opening that dissipates quickly. Soft, powdery iris in the middle, with a faint impression of hyacinth. Orris at the bottom? Or maybe that's still the iris? Definitely a good, sweet, soft musk there at the bottom too.

Warm, powdery (but not grandma-ish), sweet, soft, sophisticated. Very 70s. A daytime perfume for autumn, winter and the first wet days of spring. Not for the dog days of summer -- it's a little too much like a cashmere cardigan for that.

I must review this fragrance as it is very literally the first new composition launched in the last 10 years that actually matters. In the early seventies, Karl Lagerfeld designed the original "Chloe," with its duel lily stopper and dreamy photos--very nina ricci--but with sex: That was ground breaking for those readers who remember it, This is ground breaking for those of you who don't. Love is absolutely unique as modern fragrances go--it's very distinctly retro--but even amongst the great classics it brings something to the table. The closest thing I can think of to compare it to would be the original L'air du Temps, not the cleaned up shallow version you get today. It quite literally starts whispering and purring at you before you even spray it: One of those rare fragrances that you begin to experience before you even open the bottle. I have a lidded vaporizer flacon on my desk, and for three days i've been getting whiffs of it, without having yanked the lid off or re-sprayed once. Here's what it's about. First, astounding for a "today" fragrance because it's actually pleasant and smells expensive--a small miracle. It has wild sex-appeal, but it's completely elusive: Lady Gaga could wear this, and so could Queen Victoria. It's ultra feminine, without being cloying or too "white." The main signature of this fragrance is "SOFT." It could have been called "Love's Baby Soft" if that name weren't taken--it's very 70's--like the ad--but also very very VERY sexy and attractive to men: Lesbians, beware--not your scent: Try Comme des Garcons Original.LOVE just sort of hits the nail on the head--any man who whiffed this would be struggling with his nether regions and their sudden increased blood flow. Like Shalimar, the Oldest Trick in the Book if you want to "get lucky," It's loaded with orris, and the other floral notes are divine: Hyacinth? Very rare in perfumery. If our culture would make room for another forever-type classic, like Chanel No5 or Joy, this would be it: If you ever loved smelling L'air du temps on an auntie or your mother but couldn't possibly consider wearing the current version (which is quite vile) run for this. If you actually dug "Love's baby Soft" when you were 13, go for this. If there's a man in your life, he's not going to know what hit him. If you are a man and you're looking for a man, or already have one--pass. This would never ever work on a man. Chloe Love is most definitely not a unisex composition, and that's precisely what's so daring about it: Love truly is the "Love that dares to speak its name." Not for the butch, the ball crunching, the overly liberated, the gamine, the tomboy--but ABSOLUTELY for a pretty woman who is proud of her allure--and--more importantly, wants to leave a trail of swooning men behind her everywhere she goes. A new classic is born: We'll see how long it stays on the market. Mind boggling in it's sexual power on men--and, best of all, without even a vague hint of "easy."

Oh my! Have you ever experienced a dream that had begun very sweet, colorful and enjoyable turn into a nightmare? If not, Love, Chloé will give you that effect easily. When I was at a store trying fragrances a week ago, the salesewoman showed me this and as if I sensed what was coming, I wanted to try it on paper first. And, at first smell, it was a sophisticated (like all Chloé stuff), pretty and a classy flowery fragrance. I loved it that minute and sprayed on my arm. Then, after 5 minutes it began to change; as if escalating some stairs, the fragrance become overpowering step by step. After 20 minutes, I couldn't bear to carry it on my arm because it gave me headache and made me nauseated, it was incredibly cloying. Moreover, it become super-soapy. I had a three other fragrances on my arms and Love overcame all of them. The cardigan I wore that day, smelled Love for three days that I had to wash it in the end. A great disappointment this one is. Pretty bottle, pretty case, pretty name but a cloying fragrance.
