Reviews of Magnifique by Lancôme
Perplexed why anyone would think this was a rose oud and I’m thankful it’s not. It’s a particular fragrance that really is skin chemistry (outside of whatever we prefer to smell) dependant.
A crystalline, sometimes a little sharp, woody floral with an underlying fruitiness which for me comes into effect like golden honey. Radiant and long wearing the spices are subtle and the leathery touches reveal themselves in the far dry down.
This is an all year wear for me and a welcome change from all the gourmand concoctions and rehashes of successful fragrances offered up by most houses. It’s different and refreshing and for those that she agrees with, is a welcome event.

At first spray I thought we were going to have a lovely rose/oud combo on our hands, but it quickly transformed into a hawaiian fruit punchy rose. That fruitiness feels a little jarring to me so I'm going to wait a few minutes and see if it dies down.
Okay, 30 minutes in it doesn't seem like it's going to get any better. In fact, it is getting even more obnoxiously fruity and starting to smell like grape bubblegum.
What on Earth type of rose note is this supposed to be? It doesn't smell like any flower I've encountered. And there doesn't seem to be any spicy/woody notes either. Maybe the sample was off? But usually when a sample goes off, it gets more sour/astringent, not syrupy sweet…
I give up. I don't recommend seeking out this discontinued scent anyways unless you've already tried and love it. I can't imagine this was a best seller for Lancome and so it was inevitably let go. Sillage and longevity are nothing to write home about, average 4-6 hours with arm length projection. Lancome can and has done better.

Overdose of floral notes in the synthetic way with sweetness and some spices in the background.
The opening is strong floral scent, mostly saffron and some rose, plus sweetness and very light spices in the background.
The floral scent is not light and transparent like most feminine fragrances. it's very synthetic.
It's a linear fragrance. so you have this scent all the way through. you can smell very light vetiver in the base too, but you need to search for it.
Longevity is very good and projection is Ok.
Personally as a guy, I don't like a women smell like this!

As a lover of Tresor I also really like this rose fragrance by Lancome. Not for everyone but if you like florals give it a try.
just when the first schock of granny-alcohol-smell had gone away, i thought hmm, maybe there is hope.....
wrong!
I can Only smell bad Iron(!!!) on my skin.
next please!

A bit of medicinal saffron, a touch of smoke, roots, mint and bitter crisp dry fruits at the beginning, this is the only decent part to me, for the rest a big bore, plastic gas made of chemical caraway on the side of saffron, generic floral whiffs and musk. Some spices whirl around (i think also a touch of cinnamon is present) but, really, i don't see nothing of erotic (as some write about) or exciting in this juice. The dry down is a generic floral amber with just a touch of bitterness and the green touch of vetiver and musk. The level of creaminess and sweetness is moderate and this is a good element. Some dry fruits, the rose, some spices and balsams turn it out a reminiscence of Tresor which is enyway less dusty and more warm, mellow and spicy. The smell doesn't reach the synthetic abominable levels of Lola Jacobs for sure but is anyway so far the age Magie Noir.
Oh no, no, no, NO! This fragrance had me cringing from the very first spray.
Sure, Magnifique is unique, but perhaps Lancome took their new daring approach to making fragrances a little too far this time.
I really expected Magnifique to smell magnificent; rich, elegant, powerful and almost regal. Honestly I don't find anything wonderful about smelling like a piece of burnt plastic and synthetic flowers.
The alcohol is so strong in this fragrance, it almost wipes out the notes completely. I have smelt cheap drugstore deoderants that smell better than Magnifique.
If you can manage to get past the overly strong opening notes without washing this scent off, the scent does improve slightly. Magnifique becomes a woodsy fragrance, yet I'd say it is more masculine smelling than feminine.
I very rarely get headaches from fragrances, yet Magnifique has succeeded in giving me one. I think it's because of the strong caraway and vetiver notes.
I don't know if I could ever recommend this fragrance, I'm rather glad I don't work behind a Lancome fragrance counter, otherwise I'd have to lie and don a false smile everytime someone bought this fragrance.

This scent is a circular skin scent on me. At first I smell a sweet tobacco, then vanilla, then tobacco, then vanilla. The dance continues until the base where they stand arm in arm exhausted and calm. The entire time I could smell both at the same time. Very well blended and beautiful, but did not last as long as I had hoped.
What i notice about Lancome perfumes
that they have an distinct scent apart
from other fragrances lancome has a sweetish light and woody texture
notice Poeme Miracle Hypnose Tresore
and Hypnose senses all have this sweet vanilla
and woodsy scent that is sort of their
trademark.
The top note starts with saffron with
it's woody & sweet accord with the spicy drydown of Caraway. the middle dries to a Velvety scent of crushed Red
roses and fiery Sandalwood i can detect
a vanilla note in this so i think they
should place an vanilla note in the
note cards.
The color of the flacon is beautiful deep Ruby Red on top but dilutes to a
Clear Crystal at the bottom the sunset
motif beneth the red sky very cleaver.

It's Trésor for a new decade. A very feminine floral heart with a masculine base. Longlasting edp. An everyday scent for every occasion but with a recognizable signature. If you want something special or "never-smelled-before" look elsewhere. Magnifique is a great commercial scent.
my wardrobe has three faces - the woods, the citruses, and the presents I've gotten from friends who think that I've done the whole Vetiver thing to death...and heck, Lancome makes Mascara, its perfumes are for the Ladies who Lunch, not the day-glo gardener...so I was not prepared for my reaction to the sample, I was kinda thinking it would be nice for my mom. hmm - sun on a cedar shack where someone is cooking jams? red raspberries growing outside a wood-workers studio? something my grandmother would have invented in college, to stand out from all the girls in Shalimar? I figured it would smell like air freshener on me, but the reviews from friends, family, and the housecats have all been positive so far - my mother in particular is amazed that I don't smell 'like a guy' for a change.
the first seconds remind me a litle of le feu d'issey... a tiny bit of spice and then i smelled lychee and it lingered nicely for a while and then it all fell apart into something unpleasant. it is almost nice but the dry down isn't pleasant to me
The first thing I thought of whe I smelled this was 'Hey, this smells like Tresor!' Maybe a little sweeter, and less musky. Mind you, I haven't worn Tresor for years, but Magnifique smells similar to my memory. The saffron top note is my favorite part, and it doesn't last near long enough. Then it becomes really, really sweet berries. I don't think it's horrible, either-- it's just not something I'd ever wear again.
This definitely smells more of vaguely floral raspberry candy than the rose/wood combo that the sample card lists. This reminds me a bit of Kenzo's Amour Indian Holi, which is a much more interesting and pleasant take on a similar combination of elements.
The middle part of the development was best, right after the tangy top notes burned away. On me it was a dry, dry woody scent with some light powder, some earthyness (vetiver-like) and probably the cumin making it seem a bit "off", in a good way. If the scent smelled like this the whole time, I would probably buy a bottle.Unfortunately, the good part goes away after a couple of hours, and the remaining notes are not of interest. A good musk, but not enough of it. And that nasty cinnamon candle wax note. The drydown reminds me of Cuir de Lancome but with an inferior musk.
It reminded me strongly of Escada's Magnetism pour Homme. Not magnificent in the least, especially not on an elegant woman.
My daughter calls it "evil candy.' She's right. It's a fragrance that represents the goth/dark side of your local candy store. Hardly 'Magnifique.' More 'Tres Bizarre.' Points for weirdness, though!
Distinctive enough to be instantly recognizable, but somehow disappointing. On the top I get good dose of red berries, followed by a base that smells like iris and white musk. It seems to clunk along rather awkwardly from one (very) synthetic note to the next. There's something a little 'dead' in the overall effect. I wish it had more sparkle and heart. It's as if the top and base notes are tip-toeing around the edges but the fragrance is hollow in the center. It's crying out for something more radiant in the mix to lift the whole fragrance up a notch. It's just so dreary.
Solidified, berried, hard candy. Awful! It's cloud is so thick that there are no spaces in between to breathe real air.
I hate to say this, but: "Lancome continues it's trend of marketing 'turnips'!" This scent was so sickly sweet, it was depressing. The only thing I can compare this scent to would be one of those cherry flavored cough syrups; it had that overly sweet feel to it, which is not pleasant at all. I was hoping that the newest release from Lancome would be a throwback to some of their older, elegant scents, but alas it continues down the sickly gourmand path. I am truly disappointed with Lancome, and have given up hope that they will ever release anything ' magical' again.
