Perris Monte Carlo boasts of innovative new extraction techniques to deliver a three-dimensional portrait of mandarin from in phases from green, unripe fruit to full yellow ripeness. Mandarino di Sicilia starts out well: per Perris' promise, it's a complex rendition of mandarin over a light floral backdrop. The drydown to cedar and musk, alas, lands in the familiar territory of woody aromachems with a smidgen of orange peel; not the worst such landing by far, but also wholly unremarkable.

Oh, well: it was nice while the nice part lasted.
