Reviews of Obsession Night for Men by Calvin Klein

Starts with a sweet coconut, first five minutes is very nice like that old suntan lotion. That went away pretty quick and it became a skin scent that wasn't that remarkable.

Light, spicy cardamom opening. No pear or fruit for me. I do get a little of a coconut smell but very faint. Dries down to a skin scent within 1 hour. Some vanilla and a light incense-amber after that, very soft, lasts for 5-6 hours. Does have some resemblance to Black Orchid. I like the way it smells but the performance is too light.

I really enjoy coconut scents and this is a good example..I also get fruits and a bit of spice. Has simular vibes to d&g the one (parfum) and bronze goddess by Estee Lauder. A lot of the time with the use of coconut the performance of many scents I've tried can be poor and this isnt great either ..I do find spraying my clothes helps tho. It would be good to pair this with other grooming products like coconut shaving foams and shower gels etc. 100% unisex and a good bargain online. This has a mild d.n.a to the original but this for me is more wearable. If you detest synthetic blends then this isn't going to work for you but the silage won't reflect that, it's only when you put your nose right up to it.

CK Obsession Night is a darker fragrance than the original classic Obsession. The pear and artemisia opening seem sharper and coveys to me suede & dark leather intonations.

Projection is moderately heavy on me and has very good staying power, contrary to many reviewers; I suppose my skin chemistry works well with this fragrance.

I find Obsession Night to be mesmerizing and addictive.

Obsession Night's fragrance, overall, impresses me as distinctively masculine, upscale, urbane and classy. Obsession Night crowds Ungaro III and M7 very hard as a fragrance of choice for nighttime outings; particularly in an intimate setting.

Wearing Obsession Night portrays success, maturity and elegance. Calvin Klein's Obsession Night truly deserves more accolades than it has received. Call me old-fashioned, but this reformulated, darker take on the original 80's fragrance is a gem in my book.

I've always loved pear and to find out there was a fragrance out there that had it as a top note was as surprising as it was exciting. Obsession Night did not disappoint. I opened the bottle, sprayed it and exclaimed, "Yes!" I own about 90 fragrances now and this is easily in the Top 5. Ignore reviews that disparage this one as "synthetic." As a practical matter that simply means the scent has more consistency and an enhanced projection as it's not as volatile and prone to expiration. It doesn't mean the effect is reminiscent of petroleum or chlorine. Enthusiastic thumbs up. Recommended for ages 22-45 for the purposes of attracting and enrapturing. Not recommended for: church, funerals.

I never smelt the original, so had no preconceived notions when giving this a go for the first time. But this flanker is actually very nice IMO.

Pear and suede with vanilla are mostly what I got when wearing it....longevity was surprisingly above average for me(especially so when sprayed on clothing)but projection was a bit lacking.

Scent is somewhat light/airy and transparent due to the pear note, but still maintains a slightly darker side because of the suede and patch base. Some say they get a "coconut" smell from this. I wished I did, but sadly not to me.:/ Still...it's a nice and unique discontinued scent, that can be found around $20-25 for a 4oz bottle as I type this.

The pear-cardamom opening is pleasant albeit very straightforward yet not without some originality. The drydown has hints of mild freshness, with a very soft patchouli evolving into a vanilla base. Synthetic but quite well done. Good silage, excellent projection and over twelve hours of longevity - this very good performance has it - just - achieve a positive rating.

Not a bad scent. Not a good one either. Longevity is very weak. Synthetic, generic explosion.

Nothing like the original which I felt was too powdery. This is far better than the original IMO. It has some projection to it, just the right amount that I like, lasts around 6-8 hours on me before it really starts to fade away. A unique acquired scent. I wouldn't recommend buying this blind for this reason. I wouldn't pay more than 30 bucks for the 4.0 oz. bottle though.

Coco Jambo! Ahh wel it was sold today for 15 euro! and its a big 4.2 bottle and well uhmmm i was like...can't let this one go..you can come into my fragrance cabinet as well buddy! :-) I did always hesitated this one as i tested this sniffing it from the cap. To my nose it was a very synthetic and cloying sweet combo (from the spraycap) but on skin this one enters in 10 minutes a smooth warm combo of pear and vanilla indeed almost smellig COCO-JAMBO-COCONUTTS. Its not projecting hard? as i suspected and guessed this would be a sillage monster but i was wrong? this one enters the close to skin range very quick But hey it smells so familiar? You know what i smell? Marc Jacobs men! Its the toned down version!! i smell fig leaves. If you like this you will def. appreciate Marc Jacobs Men! I need both on my wrists to compare but im sure it has much in common! Im happy i did buy it and i will dress up soon wearing this (20plus sprays to get my own sillage throughout the day/night)Pros: unique sweet, distinctCons: Can be cloying"

The original Obsession is a classic. Some people don't like it, fair enough, but it's still a bona fide 80's classic.

This 2005 flanker... not so much.

The opening is a really quite cheap synthetic mess. Bad enough for me to almost write this one off as a terrible blind buy, even at the very reasonable £19.50 I paid for a huge 125ml edt bottle.

Give it 45 mins or an hour though and it does improve. The main note is musk but there is a definite hint of fruit (the general consensus is pear) and vanilla. It's quite spicy as well and I can definitely pick out a hint of coconut.

I'd say that basically it's a mixture of Morgans Spiced Rum (or maybe Bacardi spice) mixed with some coconut sun-tan oil, a bit of pear and a lot of musk.

A thumbs up but only if you can get it for a decent price as to be honest it's quite average although the dry down is nice.

A dry dusty sweet smell. fairly pleasant - it's OK only. I've used this for a while now and it's a grower. It's got character...stick with it. Thumbs UP now.

Yet another sub-Armani Code fragrance for the fellas. I also think it's better than much of Calvin Klein's current roster, but that isn't saying much. If you liked Code and Attitude but not their prices, this presents a more affordable alternative.

I didn't like at all original Obsession so that's probably why I didn't try this Night version until this autumn.
An interesting, modern & gentle fragrance that starts off with a sweat pear/cardamom blast and a dash of bitter-herbal feel (grapefruit/artemisia) that dives slowly in the next 20-30min. in an oriental combination of woody-spicy notes...nutmeg, vanilla and patchouli all reported present here...very nice, perfect for a night out in the summer-fall or a cold rainy day.
Good longevity (5-8 hrs.), average projection.
Glad I didn't pass by it. My rank 8.5/10.

The samples that i've used were sharp and spicy. Very masculine, peppery.

When I bought a big bottle it started to feel really synthetic, especially the leather in it.

Don't know why the original samples seemed to work so well.

This fragrance had a big potential. The female version is actually better!

It's not bad, still kinda unique.

I agree, it conjures a bit Tom Ford Black Orchid, a moody, melancholy and less boaster type of juice eventually, and is a diverse scent comparatively with the Classic Obsession, more romantic but a bit oppressing and less distinguished. It's dark and a bit mystic. It features mainly the suade-pear spicy accord which can sometimes "sound" slightly cloying. The fruity beginnig reminds a bit the flavour of cooked spicy pears, a taste coming back from the abysses of my childhood. It's a dry fruity accord which joins itself with the strange heart mastered by black suade exuding a sort of velvety type of violet leaves aroma. The earthy, smooth vanilla centered, woody base surrounds with warmth the fruity-leathery spicy accord. Obsession Night is an interesting and slightly sinister fragrance which projects mystery and a sense of pain in the air.

Instead of pear, I smell fig. Sweet, creamy, and with the slightly ammoniac edge that typifies a good fig scent, though not the leafy freshness of something like Philosykos. For me, fig scents also convey a sandalwood vibe, due to the creamy sweetness, and I get a hint of that here too.Black suede? No idea what that is. As for cardamom, as with saffron, this is a scent that thrills me in any number of cuisines and that I can pick out even if there are 20 other spices in the curry/tagine/paella, but in a perfume, I can't find it with a microscope. I'm not getting enough of the vetiver or patchouli or any other dark, earthy, mysterious notes to indicate "night." If anything, this seems lighter and brighter than the original Obsession for Men, pleasant and relaxing enough to be called Obsession Saturday Afternoon for Men.Interestingly, I think ON for Men is more feminine than ON (for women), but they both are sufficiently unisex. More strangely, ON for Men is now probably my favorite CK fragrance, even though the original Obsession (a present from a romantic interest) turned me off to all fragrances for a decade until I discovered Gucci Rush for Men.

This is really not bad. Although it has nothing to do with original Obsession for men that I like and find much better. Longevity of this scent is quite good, sillage isweak to moderate. Scent itself is tad bit dark and mystical and my nose smells sweet leather and almonds here. Doubtly I'll own it, but it deserves a thumb up.

Obsession Night is one of my all-time favorite scents. It's certainly synthetic but the 'suede' in the middle is borderline magical to me. This smells like standing at the shore of a secluded lake under the stars, encircled with vanilla flowers and rolling with low-lying fog. You can smell the damp earth beneath your feet, the dimly glowing white planifolia, and even the cold water. Everything is dark and vague, but not scary or worrisome; it's like a waking dream.

To me it smells nothing like Obsession, but it gives you a dark type of vibe. Great for a night out so I would not consider this to be a very versatile fragrance unless you are just an insomniac. As a result you will not need to buy a lot of this cologne. Similar vibe to John Varvatos.

Imagine you are at a large boring formal party when suddenly in bounds a noisy flamboyant guest. All heads turn and for a moment the conversation stops to acknowledge this noisy gate-crasher. Some people will continue to look because this inappropriately dressed stranger is somewhat intriguing but most people return to their business (this is a civilised part after all). You look longer than you would like to, caught off-guard by qualities you have not seen before but you quickly turn away because you dislike the type of person that upsets the status-quo for reasons of their own apparent vanity. As the evening progresses, you find yourself stealing glances at the uninvited guest. They have settled down and have become the charmer of the party, smiling, flirting, laughing and yet remaining detached and elusive all at the same time. Some hours later you step out onto the balcony to study the night. You look up and curse the night-glow of artificial lighting for preventing the beauty of the stars from being truly appreciated. It is at this moment that you realise someone is standing close behind you. You turn to face the intriguing stranger. They stand before you silent, demure, and with the air of someone who knows a valuable secret. How can this be the same 'brash' person from earlier? And then, as if sensing what you are thinking, the guest answers with a seductive smile, "I had to get your attention somehow".

this is a very poor effort from the calvin klein stable,,and it is a huge dissapointment, the fragrance when you take off the top is not very pronounced, when it is first put on you get a very strong alcohol break,,which soon breaks down into very powderey smelling woods, there is no depth to the fragrance and no longevity,i think you would need to take the botttle out with you and re-apply it every 15 minutes, for anyone to notice the fragrance, over all a very poor effort, we all have differing skin types and we all react differently to aftershaves and fregrances, but from my point of view i would say >

Obsession Night is an interesting spin on Obsession for Men. There is a definite pear element, and maybe I'm just misidentifying the vanilla basenotes, but I seem to get a little cinnamon out of Night as well . . . not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. I respect regular Obsession, but find it's just too much for me to wear, too strong, but Obsession Night has never been as cloying or strong, and it's certainly mellow in comparison. The problem with it is the same problem I have with almost all Calvin fragrances - it just doesn't match the better stuff that's out there, and its longevity is fair to poor. There is nothing offensive about Night, and I imagine it could boost a guy's sex appeal just a little bit (its name conjures the commercial association of being out on the town in nightclubs) but if I wanted to intrigue a woman's sense of smell I think I would pass on this one and go for something else.
