Reviews of Quorum Silver by Antonio Puig
I wore this to a party last night, and got three compliments on this. I don't wear fragrances for compliments, and I don't often get them, so this was unusual. One woman said that I smelled good and clean. Another woman said that I smelled like fresh linen. Another one just sort of purred.
I have always loved this stuff, masculine but not heavy or old school. I truly don't understand the comments below about smelling like CK, and while this won't be your longest lasting fragrance, you will get a solid 5 hours out of it. You can get this for about $12 on fragrance net right now, and I like it more than most niche fragrances that are 20 times more expensive. At these prices, and with Puig just being purchased, I'm guessing this is going to be discontinued soon as it doesn't generate multinational conglomerate profits, so grab a bottle quickly.

This cheapie blows most niche attempts at spiced woods out of the water. Excellent quality for around the same price as you can get Encre Noire (about $20 at your preferred discounter).
It opens with the most realistic cedar, bright and searing, like the inside of a newly carved jarana (a ukelele-sized string instrument carved out of a single piece of cedar, used for playing Son Jarocho in Veracruz, Mexico). A combination of warm and fresh spices keep it sunny throughout, featuring primarily a crisp, almost candied ginger and a floral lavender, as well as the nicest nutmeg accord I’ve come across. The pink pepper sparkles and the guaiac wood in the drydown is a heavenly, semisweet balsamic stick of palo santo.
The effect is remarkable: it goes from bracingly refreshing to soothingly warm, all in one fell swoop. And it’s delicious, start to finish. (Incidentally, the sprayer pumps out copious amounts of juice in a finely distributed mist; another great feature you don’t expect from a cheapie.) There’s a reason why I keep coming back to it, despite having pricier niche and designer classics in my wardrobe.
A veritable mood lifter that’s office friendly and lasts easily through the workday. Fantastic.

On my skin I don’t get any cedar. Just soft spicy meh, that becomes a soft clone of CK one.
It's cedary and bright. I like it a lot. Unfortunately it's but a fleeting memory by the time I arrive at my destination. This has the worst longevity of any cologne I own.
For the price, just get it! Smells so good. Fresh and woody with a dash of spices. Instant mood enhancement. Supremely versatile. Dressed up or down. Day, night, office, club, office party, Christmas party. You name it. Get yer cedar on!
Quorum is one of the great uber-masculine scents. With its patchouli, pine, leather and tobacco, it ticks all of the right boxes, and the jasmine plays much the same role as the gardenia in Z-14—floral, but manly. Quorum’s Silver flanker shares some of the same notes with its parent (Artemisia and Bergamot in the top notes and amber in the base notes and patchouli) but it is really what makes it different that makes this the wonderful scent that it is.
Quorum Silver opens with fresh, slightly metallic notes reminiscent of Safari for Men and Halston Man/Amber. The dry, spicy heart notes are soon apparent which bring Catalyst for Men and Poivre Samarcande to mind. The real star of the show—a strong and clean cedarwood underscored by a realistic Guaiac Wood—steps onto the stage and stays on to take the last bow.
This is an uplifting scent, more wearable by today’s standards than the original but just as manly and a little more discreet, a little bit drier and brighter but very masculine all the same. I have worn the original Quorum aftershave followed by a few sprays of Quorum Silver which work very well together.

Smells like a cute accountant who enjoys gadgets but is working over a vintage wood desk and wears bone glasses.
The opening is bright and spicy but quickly dissipates into a more woody/orange & lavender slightly sweet and dry scent. If it had more spicy-ness it would have been perfect, however for the price and the performance you can't fault it.

Quorum Silver is an astonishingly good 'cheapie' that could put many niche scents attempting spiced woods to filthy shame. Silver opens shiny, happy, searing, and bright, like a buzzsaw through the most delicious cedar imaginable, then settles into a bed of crystallized ginger and floral lavender. Subtly piquant pink pepper lifts the cedar off the skin.
This is so delightful and bright, a mood lifter as it were. It dries down to warm genuine guaiac wood (I am well acquainted with the natural material) and spiced amber.
Hats off to the talented perfumer who created this beauty.

Misled by some reviews that called this a "one-note cedar bomb" or likened it to smelling a freshly cut log, I was disappointed to discover that this is *not* primarily or exclusively a cedar fragrance. Instead, "silver" is the key word: it is dominated by a sharp blast of what seems like ozonic metal. Only after I became more familiar with the scent could I begin to untangle the elements of this slightly screechy, synthetic cloud: primarily the pepper-ginger accord, which is framed by secondary notes of slightly soapy musk, slightly sweet tangerine/mandarin, and soft vanillic amber, all on, yes, a bed of light, transparent cedar. The opening pairing of lemon-orange citrus with piercing ginger and black pepper creates a chaotic, clanging tustle between the cool, metallic, sharp citrus, ginger, and pepper notes; as the citrus burns off, the ginger and pepper provide a slightly more natural and gradual transition to a cedar heart, whose raspy edges are rounded off by hints of nutmeg-cinnamon-clove and some vanillic amber. Thankfully, since I dislike lavender, it isn't really detectable as its own note and, if present at all, just adds to the prickly zing of the airy pepper-ginger. Despite the spice notes, QS is never really gourmandy, and instead remains too angular and abstract to be mistaken for anything you can find in the kitchen. The cedar is distinctive and pleasantly woody, but constantly paired with that buzzy, zingy, artificial pepper-ginger—far away from the natural woods I had hoped for.
After my initial disappointment, I've since come around to like this fragrance a lot. But not as something I would regularly wear—still too bright, slightly sweet, and synthetic for my taste. Rather, it makes an excellent room spray, especially bathroom freshener. It has good sillage and excellent longevity (7–8 hours), especially on fabric, where it lasts 24+ hours.
If you're looking for a more straightforward and natural cedar-pepper accord, consider Azzaro Visit, which is a simpler pairing of pink pepper and cedar—slightly cooler, drier and less sweet, less intense, with a more relaxed and transparent vibe—or Comme des Garçons Sequoia (red pimento pepper and cedar) or Wonderwood (mostly cedar). And if you like metallic-spicy synth woods à la CdG, this is a very cheap way to buy into that neighborhood. Overall, an excellent value.

This is a fantastic bargain-bin, hidden gem of fresh masculine fragrance! A classic that stands the test of time.
The notes in this this fragrance blend together so well. I love the lavender and cedar dry-down.
Just excellent for the $15-20 price tag!
Definitely a worthy blind-buy

Starts off smelling exactly like cedarwood - it's as if I'm smelling a lumber yard, but mixed with some slightly sweet spices (possibly nutmeg and ginger). This fragrance leans masculine but could be unisex due to the slight sweetness. It basically smells exactly like wood, pencil shavings and all. As it dries down it still smells of cedarwood predominantly, but I can now also smell nutmeg, ginger, pink pepper, and a small hint of cinammon. This is like Mr. Burberry but less sweet (way drier) and without the citrus topnotes. If you want to smell like a lumber yard (but without smelling bad per se), this is it. Sillage is moderate while longevity is also moderate at about 4-5 hours. I wish this was stronger in longevity and sillage but it's to be expected at $16 per 100 ml. In any case, it really gives an authentic feel of wood but with a slightly sweet/spicy aroma to it, so I really like it.
4.5/5
Fantastic cedar cheapie.
Smells great. Lacks a bit on the longevity side of things but at these prices you can afford to over spray. It's a cedar bomb mixed with an out of the shower freshness.

Initial impression: decent but not so good 2.5/5
Revised impression: good enough to wear 3/5
Quorum Silver took a little time to grow on me. At first I found it to be decent but I didn't like it at first sniff. I probably hadn't waited for enough of the alcohol to evaporate and I found the top notes to be synthetic and unpleasant. What's with the unpleasant openings on some fragrances while others smell great from the very first sniff? If I'd smelled this in a store I would have moved right along and forgotten all about it.
But I noticed that once the worst of the top notes blew off the underlying scent that came out is actually kind of nice.
You get Cedar for sure, of course. You might detect hints of Geranium or Rose or some other Floral. Maybe Ginger or Cinnamon, I'm not so sure.
So there's a bit more to it than just the Cedar.
But all adds up to a "warm" cedar smell for me.
It's kind of comforting, actually.
I don't think this has any actual Cedar oil in it. I have some Cedar essential oil and that Cedar smell is much stronger and richer. So I think maybe a bit of Citrus is combining with a few other ingredients to give us the impression of real Cedar. It's pretty well done, actually.
Still: not bad! Try it: who knows, you might like it!
The aftershave is basically a weaker version of the cologne, only it has a bit of Witch Hazel and Menthol in it as well. It doesn't last, of course.
There really are no safe blind buys, because you never know what you'll like until you actually try it, but this is a super-cheap one to blind-buy.

I'm going to give Quorum Silver a thumbs up for one firm reason...I can't stop wearing it.There's plenty I can criticize about it...
*It doesn't smell as slick and sophisticated as Quorum Original
*It's a very dry fragrance
*It lacks dimension or more notes to color it
But maybe that's just it...Quorum Silver isn't really modern,it's more rustic...and I like that. The best cedar wood note my nose had the pleasure meeting yet it's lightly warm and dusty to it's dry character. The spice that makes up the background seems to transition between nutmeg, red pepper, and ginger. In my opinion Quorum Silver can be worn any season but I think it's light warmth and dryness shines best in the fall and winter.

It turns out I don't like cardamom (the incense vibe), so this one turns me away more than it draws me. Without it I would go neutral or even up for the remaining cedar led combination. As is common with Puig, its a real bargain, if you like it.
Darvant has QS pegged, identifying ginger, citrus and cedarwood. I don't get the Black Soul comparison. They seem to be as different as, well black and silver. I get none of the minty sweetness of TLBS. QS Seems to vanish without a trace in very little time at all. I do like to layer EDT with aftershave whenever possible, but I'm not fond enough of QS to buy the AS.
Got this Quorum Silver in a set with its matching aftershave for less than $20. First time I used the cologne, didn't like it much ... Something wasn't right. Pino Silvestre, which it superficially resembles, starts better, though it fades in an hour. Anyways. Tried it again, two sprays, and wasn't sure it was a winner. Finally got around to trying the QS aftershave, and like IT very much- not just alcohol, has some moisturizers, good face feel. Tried just one spray of the QS cologne afterward and NOW I see the light. Overdoing this one wrecks it; one spray and you got cedar and (pink) pepper, which outlasts Pino Silvestre by far. Minimal use of this one appears to bring out its best. Too much of it confuses or overwhelms the sniffer.
My first review, here goes. I blind bought this after finding it cheap on ebay and looking at a few reviews here & on other sites. This scent is all about clean, fresh wood, like walking through a recently felled forest - surprising as there is no benzoin in it. The opening, that stays mostly for the duration, is cedar, verging on a pure pine resin - the good pine, not the disinfectant pine. Imagine going to the diy store, finding the doors section, then find a pine door with a resin filled knot, and stick your nose right up to it and drawing in a good sniff. That's a good scent right? Quorum Silver has that good scent running all though it, and it lasts well. There is lemon in the opening which quickly withers and gives way to spice, pepper, ginger and slight cinnamon. As the scent wears, the patchouli really comes to the fore. My other half says it remind him of Terre de Hermes, though I don't get that. A great non-offensive scent, probably best for winter/autumn. Such heavy cedar is unusual, so you will be noticed wearing this.
I bought this blind because of the price and a fond memory of opening an old cedar chest while growing up that I still remember as one of the best smelling things in the world. This very much hits the cedar note. I found this to be very strong and long-lasting. Probably too strong. Almost turns cloying after sometime on my skin but when I smell it on clothes or fabrics the next day, I really enjoy the smell.
Quorum Silver is an extremely invigorating accord of spices, musk and woods. Incredibly aromatic....cool..... I read somewhere "a cedar bomb" but I would say better "a cardamom bomb" (anyway, also citrus and cedarwood are key notes). I detect indeed by soon liquid cardamom, ginger (a lot of), citrus (an orangy-lemony accord plus cinnamon), liquid synthetic incense (Iso E driven Incense complementing the cardamom), coriander, peppermint, musk and misty pepper. It's like to smell (for a while) a sort of Ted Lapidus Black Soul but without all that bombastic sweetly-synthetic balminess and with a fluidy woody-dusty-lemony sharper texture. In part also scents as Cartier Declaration and Terre d'Hermes jump on mind for several of their characteristics. The (yet minty-spicy aromatic) dry down is more woody, orangy and slightly vanillic but in a really moderate way. Really not bad.
Bang-for-buck King - five minutes in, it takes me back to the early 90s and my first forays into the wonders of men's deodorant: a memory of the exoticness of Lynx 'Java' comes back to me (I think it's called Axe in the US and possibly elsewhere).
But yes, a lovely bright cedar, with lots of herbals going on underneath, peppercorn, possibly a bit of mint at the start, the sourness of grapefruit, too.
For the first ten minutes, I can't get anywhere near my skin - it's too much! - I can only waft my nose over my arm from six inches away. Unrefined, synthetic to an extent, but a lovely and well-earned dry-down will greet you at the end of your day, warm woodsy ambers and RAAR!
Try it... you might like it :)

Smooth, dry cedar wood & spicy fresh ginger...
This is a very pleasing and very nice fragrance. It's a cedar surrounded by mandarin, pink pepper, grapefruit, lavender jasmine and amber (with hits of fresh ginger). Warm, smooth and spicy. It may be priced cheap, but it smells expensive. A great choice for men or anyone who wants to wear it. Spicy, woody, ambery musk. Not ground breaking but incredibly nice and sophisticated smelling. You can't go wrong with it. Enough complexity to set it apart from most male-designed fragrances. A good choice which smells modern, sophisticated and not boring at all! Highly recommended from Puig!

A nice dry down that hits you like a falling CEDAR tree into a ginger / vanilla bush. I am a big fan of most woods and Silver is a great fresh, dry wood frag that works day or night. Like its cousin, Quorum, this is a steal at around $15. Viva Puig!
I basically bought this to round out the three quorums. My least favorite of the three but still a good fragrance. I am not really sure why it received the moniker Silver..It smells like grandma's closet but in a good masculine way (think a cedar closet with tools). I don't really wear it that often but like I said, I bought it to unite the Quorum trinity.
