Silver Shadow
Davidoff (2005)

Francis Kurkdjian hit the mark with this one in 2005. An orangy sweet but subtle masculine with decent at best wear time that can easily be any mans signature scent. Also could be worn in the office and at no time will it offend anyone unless someone takes the bottle and dumps it on their head however. A few sprays goes a long way and I truly cherish this scent. I think Davidoff sometimes is only know for Cool Water but in fact this house has launched many many memorable fragrances with this easily being one of them.

Other reviewers use the word *creamy* and I agree with that. A little woods and fruit, very appropriately no lemon but orange. An edge that is a tiny bit sour or bitter, the right way. Pretty unique actually. Good.

This I find a solid 7/10 on myself. Might rate it 8/10 on others though. Has a certain tang to it in the opening that you know preceeds sweetness, powderiness.

Was thinking it might go into a kind of a Spicebomb but it develops into a soft incense-amber-maltol accord.

I say that from a sample. Let me quickly check the price... 50€/60$ for 100 ml, well that's a decent deal.

For me it's still a neutral but only because it's not really what I'm looking for. If I was to smell this on others however I might rate it positive.

It has a Guerlain l'Instant pour homme vibe to it. If you would add amber to that one and a touch of sweet incense as in Reyane's Insurrection II Wild: that's Silver Shadow!

The opening combines a woodsy core with a slightly herbal undertone. The wood is initially quite nonspecific, but with time this crystallizes into a cedar impression that is quite all right.

In the drydown a certain spiciness arises, mainly a moderately crispy patchouli. Together with the woodsy note this mix turns rounder, smoother and creamier, with an ambery undertone towards the end.

I get moderate sillage, very good projection and seven hours of longevity on my skin.

This autumnal scent for warmer days or evenings in a tad generic and synthetic, but whilst it is a bit ordinary on the one side, it displays a pleasant smoothness too. Overall 2.7/5.

Woody, creamy and mildly spicy amber.
Speedracer aptly describes it as a "snuggle scent".
A more wearable and office safe version of the other in-you-face in this genre( Cristobal, Arpege PH).
For the price a no brainer.

The opening on Silver Shadow is creamy orange and saffron, very sweet. The drydown is all about amber and woods. It's all very pleasant and enjoyable.

This feels like a nighttime, date, snuggle scent. Probably best in fall and winter because it's so warm and sweet.

Projection is below average.
