Latest Reviews of Terre de Lumière L'Eau
I like it when flankers do have their own personality and are more different than just a note amplified there, a note silenced there and that's it. You still can see that it's a sibling of Terre de Lumière - they both have that zingy pink pepper and bergamot opening and they both have tonka, musk and almond in their base, but their overall feel is quite different. Terre de Lumière is a sunny and honey dripping gourmand with pink pepper zing, and Terre de Lumière L'eau is a lovely, soft and romantic peony floral with pink pepper zing. That peppery zing is what ties them together. L'eau exchanges lavender honey and ambrette seeds for peonies and a bit of black currant, and that changes the mood quite substantially - the honey dripping sweetness is lost, you have soft, dewy and romantic peony blossoms instead of that. The black currant in L'eau is not too perceptible for me, it blends into peonies.
Where I see original Terre as an all-occasion scent equally fitting for day and evening wear, this is a daytime scent for sure. And where I can imagine the original being too sweet or too bold for someone, I don't think anyone would be offended by L'eau - it's just light and lovely with just a bit of peppery character. I could see a young mom or a romantic girl wearing this - but I don't think this perfume has age limits.
I see Terre de Lumière as a sunlit and buzzing field full of honey-dripping lavenders at noon. Terre de Lumière L'Eau is a dewy flower field in the early morning. It's lighter, fresher, subtler, a bit floral (peony is very perceptible). Where Terre de Lumière is a wide grin, Terre de Lumière L'eau is a subtle smile.
I prefer the grin, but honestly - they're both lovely.
