I still think I prefer 1881 intense, but this is a cracking good next best thing. I can't find intense anymore, so this is used as a substitute. It has slightly greater longevity, even after 10 hours, not anosmic which intense is often accused of. Similar in the same citrusy, spicy floral upper notes with a wonderful timber basement which I adore.

I have to say, after a love/hate affair with this one. I have finally come to terms that this is a superb fragrance.

The chili/spicy components are done so well, and the patchouli heavy dry down just fits in great! It's not like an A*Men flanker, gourmand patchouli, it's much more natural, much more earthy, incorporates some dirty elements. I think what I like most, is that it's very wearable, without being too over the top, and for being so unique, that's a big plus for me.

I've heard the 1881 line has some real sleepers too. This being only the 2nd I've tried from the house after the original, which was good, but not my taste. Both well done, from and overall lackluster house/brand imo. I intend on trying more from them in the near future.

I agree that this could be a niche fragrance. beautiful, subtle, intoxicating. I just bought 2 bottles for £25, an ubelievable price. This is a hidden gem. The 1881 line has some wonderful scents and i have now collected Black, Signature the original and now this one. These are all wonderful. The original still stands out as a gorgeous and again, an intoxicating scent. This line is very much underrated.

Can a man be beautiful? Bella Notte is proof positive. This is a gem of niche quality, yet at a ridiculously inexpensive price point, thanks to depreciation and obscurity: this is the 6th flanker in the line of the original.

I was skeptical at first, but I have been pleasantly rewarded by this beaut. Were this labelled by a fancy niche house, it would be wildly more popular and draw a lot more praise.

For comparison sake, I would name this Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille Blanc. No tobacco to speak of, but the notes vibrate to create a desiccated tobacco note that bounces back and forth with the vanilla in the base.

Easily a signature scent. Tells a story of a man, a beautiful man.

I'm having a love affair with the 1881 line of men's fragrances. The original (simply called 1881) is all about masculine florals, predominantly iris and rose with lighter notes of tobacco and sweet nutmeg. 1881 BLACK is a unique blend of gourmand notes, predominantly sweet almonds and vanilla with very light orange and lighter still nutmeg. Now 1881 BELLA NOTTE MAN marries these two profiles without being muddy. It enchants and makes a dignified statement. Pepper and coriander opens at the top with a softening citrus and vanilla quality. Drown down brings more intense citrus and a waxy floral scent like an Asian greenhouse with freshly cut grasses to make it fresh and masculine. Basenotes of signature 1881 vanilla project throughout wearing as the darker cedar comes forward to subtly enhance all the other notes and add interest. 1881 BELLA NOTTE MAN easily wins the prize for being the most interesting for the man wearing it. It grabs your attention and holds it. Should you get used to it, a compliment will draw you back and make you take note and realize that it has subtly developed on your skin to something just a little different then it was a while ago. Really fun...but sophisticated too. Lasts 6+ hours on skin and clothes.
