Reviews of Angels' Share by Kilian

As seems to be par for the course for Kilian fragrances marketed as boozy, I get zero booze from this. It contains a milky sugary praline accord that is reminiscent of Feve Delicieuse (not a fragrance one should try to imitate - the original was bad enough) and that's about it. Perhaps a slight hint of that tolu accord from Single Malt/Old Fashioned but I might just be imagining things.

Boozy opening, followed by a slightly skanky, barnyard accord.
I smell a smoky oak note, as well. Eventually I detect cinnamon.
The base is a mellow, sweet thing; almost candy-like and nutty.
Many hours later it becomes powdery then, amber sandalwood-like.

I expected, or rather hoped, this would be stronger, more intense. Overall, I like it. Not full-bottle worthy for me.

So, I recently purchased a 5-vial By Kilian Sampler of their better-selling, feminine leaning perfumes. Angel's Share was in the sampler, along with Love Don't Be Shy, LDBS Fraiche, Good Girl Gone Bad and Princess. I love By Kilian fragrances. And I've owned a few full bottles of their GREATEST fragrances (Incense Oud, Rose Oud)...a few have sadly been discontinued.

WoW...Angels' Share opens with an undeniable, clearly distinguishable boozy, cognac liquor blast. Not my favorite opening with any perfume; however, the blast quickly dissipates and gives way to rather nondescript woody notes. If I push my nose into my skin, I occasionally detect a sweet floral note but anything beyond woods and amber is difficult for me to detect.

In the dry down, I do register a very faint, sweet almond note...but nothing very outstanding our memorable. I want to give this fragrance a fair ride because I was REALLY excited about sampling it. So, I will wear it a few times and adjust my review, if necessary.

Longevity is moderate. Silage is moderate.

At the By Kilian price point, I guess I was expecting more from this fragrance. Overall, the scent is disappointing.

I love Ambre Narguile, and I had high hopes for this but to me it just doesn't feel harmonious and blended well enough. It has a shrieking nofe that I also dislike. Haven't tried it on my slin because I found it so off putting.

I love Ambre Narguile & I love Oajan. It's that sweet tobacco, apple/cinnamon pie, pastry vibe. Really warm and comforting. Not an everyday wear, but I love it when I do. AN has the higher quality ingredients but always seems a bit light on me. Oajan has the power but may be a little too in your face. The reason I like Angels Share so much is because it sits perfectly between the two. The quality is there and it lasts, but doesn't shout. I find AS more boozy than the other 2 but all 3 are basically different branches of the same tree. I wouldn't say any one was better than the other, they just do different things. Not a fan of Kilian fragrances on the whole, but this one really hits a sweet spot on my skin.

I dont hate it but i dont love it either. It reminds me too much of back to black, heavy on the pipe tobacco and almond. No one mentions almond but i get that and thats what turns me off. Its like cinnamon, almond and tobacco. I do not get any apple notes. Cloying.

"Boozy warm apple pie", as STORMIE described, is Angels' Share in a nutshell. I can't imagine wearing this on a daily basis, but it smells great sprayed into a room -- the scent lingers for hours -- or maybe on a handkerchief for an accent.

It's a good fragrance, but I find it a bit too simple. You get the cinnamon and liquor note that reminds you of Ambre Narguile. The drydown is a pleasant tonka and vanilla scent with some praline to give it a touch of gourmand feel. I might be going a bit too hard on this scent, but it's 2023, and there are so many other sweet tonka and vanilla scents that I can try. There are also clones of Ambre Narguile that come so close to the original, and then there's Kismet Angel.

This scent will smell amazing if you just joined the hobby, but this type of smell has lost its appeal. I'm giving it a neutral rating because it doesn't excite me.

This is a slightly sweeter version of Tom Ford Noir Extreme with a slight pinch of Frapin 1270 (because of the cognac note). You get the slight booziness with the ambery vanilla and cinnamon in this gem. Nothing new, but something nice. 8/10

Where do I begin...?
Angels’ Share... This is a piece of art not just a scent to me. I finally found my holy grail. Anything I'll smell from now on will never be as good as this.

Boozy warm apple pie... Delicious.

Words cannot do justice to this ANGELIC and masterfully blended concoction. It's so good I'm literally speechless. This is silky smooth brandy/cognac coming out of an aged oak barrel, beautifully wrapped in a transparent yet very noticeable veil of sweet praline, roasted peanuts, warm apple pie fresh out the oven sprinkled with cinnamon, and even smells of candy floss at times, but don't be mistaken, this smells extremely refined and mature.

The projection is absolutely beastly but never obnoxious, the longevity is outstanding aswell. Easy 10 hours+ on my skin.
Angels’ Share is so addictive I can’t stop smelling myself whenever I wear it.
It’s alluring and downright irresistible. Absolute perfection. Even if you're not a fan of boozy or gourmand fragrances, you'll be shocked at how divine you smell.

TRUST and BELIEVE, whenever you wear this perfume, you'll be the best, and I mean the BEST smelling person in the room, no questions.

If I could compare Angels’ Share to a song, it would be.....

Perfection in a bottle. 12/10

In sampling both Apple Brandy and Angels Share at the same time with my wife, the warm, cinnamon, boozy, and sweet notes in Angels Share kept tricking us into thinking we were smelling Apple Brandy. It just seemed to fit better with the name.

Regardless, this is the better option of the two. It really has a high-end, boozy, apple pie scent.

On my skin, this projects and lasts a long time. It's very loud even with 1 or 2 sprays, lasting all day.

This opens like a boozy apple pie, and I’m surprised to see there wasn’t apple in the notes. Then the boozy note tones down and I notice more of the woodsy note. There is a sweetness at the beginning, but it tones down a little. There are aspects that make me feel it’s more feminine, but overall it has a much more masculine feel.

Angels' Share is a beautifully balanced fragrance. The cognac is present without giving a boozy, party vibe. The cinnamon is warm and woody, not candied, and gorgeous against the oak and cognac. The vanilla is slightly sweet and a touch smoky, and provides a stable anchor for the oak. Moderate projection, and the longevity is exactly what you'd expect from the published notes, 6-8 hours. This reads very unisex to me, doesn't lean either direction. This is definitely one that benefits from a chest spray, allowing it to radiate from your body warmth.

A boozy, nutty oriental, this reminds me somewhat of Givenchy's Organza in the opening phase. As another reviewer mentioned though, there's a sharpness tempering the sweetness, & like that reviewer, I also find it less bold than l expected. This doesn't matter though, because the drydown is a deliciously warm, rich & comforting blend of praline, tonka & woods. The projection is great for the first couple of hours, & after that l still get nice little wafts as l move. The cinnamon is very faint on me, but the vanilla becomes more apparent in the base, & it's still going softly twelve hours in.

l'm not sure l'd pay full price for it, but this is a very enjoyable winter fragrance that reeks of quality, & l think it's perfect for the festive season.

Sampling one of the latest from By Kilian, Angels' Share, one of the two new releases of their Liquors collection (along with Roses on Ice). Angels' Share is inspired by the phrase that refers to the volume of aging spirits or wine lost due to evaporation during the aging process, and the fragrance is a nod to Kilian Hennessey's family empire of cognac, specifically, which is the featured note, along with hazelnut and oak, per the house website, though other sources list notes of praline, vanilla, sandalwood, cinnamon, and tonka.

Nutty and boozy have to be the most apt two descriptors, but it's quite sweet but not too sweet, I would argue, and there is a slightly woody base underneath it all that, and there's a vague sharpness that ties the nuttiness to the sweetness and booziness. And it really feels like a sweet boozy take on cognac rather than, say, whiskey (as in Single Malt), so cognac fans should fined.

I think that some might very well find the sweet/sharp mix to be a little much for their liking, but it's not among the very sweetest boozy fragrances I've smelled, nor is it overwhelmingly nutty. Still, it leans toward the sweet cognac mostly, followed by the nuts (a mix of hazelnut and tonka is how I'd describe it), and then some woods, for which oak seems right on the money.

Angels' Share is very nice, roughly on par with Apple Brandy, though still a clear notch below Single Malt in terms of best of the boozy fragrances of the house. It performs quite well, with very loud projection to start and quite good longevity, equivalent to my experience with most of the darker fragrances in the house.

The retail pricing of both Angels' Share and Roses on Ice is somewhat modest (basically as inexpensive as their fragrances get), at $195 for 50ml, but this may very well due to be presentation, which does not seem to include one of the brand's signature wooden coffrets.

This is an absolute winner.
Everything blends together extremely well.
Cognac, Cinnamon, and Vanilla are the most prominent notes.
A tad sweeter and less bold than I expected it to be.
