I’m smelling this before trying the Elixir version, so I can’t make a direct comparison. On its own, it comes across very sweet, but there’s enough depth to keep it from feeling overly cloying. I don’t pick up much coffee in the drydown. There’s some patchouli, though it sits quietly in the base rather than standing out. It vaguely reminds me of Black Orchid, especially in the way it blends patchouli, vanilla, and light florals. There’s a similar chocolatey nuance with a touch of earthiness, but here it’s less earthy and leans more into an amaretto-like sweetness.

I’m not getting a strong coumarin or distinctly vanillic base from the tonka. Everything feels tightly blended, which adds to the smoothness.Performance is strong, and this feels best suited for winter or special occasions. It leans unisex, and I think men could pull it off as well.

If you’re looking for something sweet but rich, slightly dark, with a hint of florals and a patchouli-leaning base, this is worth trying. It’s not really my style, and I’d personally reach for Black Orchid, which feels darker but more transparent. That said, this is still a well-rounded, balanced fragrance despite its richness. It doesn’t come across as a true gourmand, but it’s unlikely to disappoint if this profile appeals to you.
