gorgeous fragrance that gets compared to myslf a lot online and that is doing it a great injustice. This is far better juice in every way and i wish it wasnt limited edition

Gucci Guilty Love Edition pour Homme 2024 by Gucci (2024) sneaked onto the market with little to no fanfare, telling me Coty didn't have much faith in the product and used it as an impulse buy for fans of the range. Compound this with the fact it hasn't even turned up in most US stores until mid 2025 (hence me just now reviewing it), and that tells me we're looking at an eau-de-tax-write-off here that was meant to grab what cash it can before being flushed like basically so many flankers in the range. You can even tell by the smell that this was an afterthought - even though it's a good one - which further compounds the shame here. In a nutshell: this is an eau de parfum variation of the 2023 Elixir de Parfum by Quentin Bisch, which I enjoyed sampling despite the egregious price. This one isn't priced so good either, and discounted options are always a minefield of fakes with this brand, making it a gauntlet to pay what it's really worth.

The same rubbery orange blossom core is here, folded into a bit of a floral fougère with lavender and some tonka buttressing this core. This time around we don't have as much of the benzoin and spiced patchouli goodness that was in the elixir, so expect a softer and fresher plunge from juniper, lemon, and airy synthetic top notes down into the orange blossom, osmanthus, and ionone center, mulled with a bit of nutmeg then folded into that lavender tonka combo, before being laid out over a softer patchouli and ambrofix; this is a material found in the elixir too but much more naked here, offering a combo of Iso E Super woodiness and ambroxan lift, with musky floral tobacco nuances in some use cases (like this one). Performance is better on projection than the elixir, and overall this is a bit more mass-appeal, which is always the goal with Coty, right? I do like this a lot, but I also realize that what I'm smelling is only engaging because it's a derivative of an interesting fragrance.

Perhaps the way this was treated stateside can be chalked up to waning faith in the US buying public, as income disparity increases and a larger portion becomes new-age serfs living on the land of corporate vassals desperate to replace them with AI and enact some dystopian vision of society a la the movies Gattica or Elysium? Focus on the more-equitable EU market and then let the mumbling TikTok-obsessed trust fund spawn with their broccoli haircuts fight in the US over whatever didn't sell there? The new money one-percentile who buy Gucci perfumes on name alone also account for more than 50% of all discretionary spending, so they're served here. Either way, this is a low-effort mod rehash similar to the Gucci Guilty Love Edition MMXXI pour Homme (2021) release, just one that accidentally has a much higher-yield in being interesting. Like the elixir, perhaps patience will reward a bottle of this at a good price (that isn't fake), and make it worth checking out. Thumbs up
