Guess 1981 Men is different from every other fragrance I own. It is a modern scent with a woody heart contrasted with a type of harmony between violet leaf and leather. In my opinion when violet leaf is paired alongside with leather one gets a kind of “new car” leather note. I would be curious to know what the actual ingredients are for this accord. This woods in this fragrance are pretty general but listed as cedar. The olibanum note seems to serve to link the two aforementioned parts together. The true role of the ambergris note, I suspect, is to make the whole package project and radiate. This isn’t an expensive fragrance so I suspect the violet leaf, leather, and olibanum are actually sparse and need a lot of push from aromachemcials to stand out. This is a good, serviceable, inexpensive fragrance with fair enough lasting power for the price.

I was not expecting such quality. This would be a hit in EdP or Parfum strength.

Could easily pass for a YSL any day.

Fresh, lightly sweet-woody...almost like an oud eau de cologne.
I get some Atelier Atlas Cedar/Versace Man Fraiche/D&G Light Blue, but faint, coming from the synthetic nature of the notes. However it seems to be all the right notes, so you get a well constructed pyramid. As one note ends it life cycle another picks up seamlessly and continues the show albeit in a different but congruent direction.

Try this out and give it time.
Well done Team Guess.
