A really aromatic, spicy-wood cologne from George Marciano of Guess? fame.

Fragrance notes:
Top = pepper, ginger, lavender, mandarin orange, spicy notes;
Heart = sage, violet, neroli, carambola, rosemary;
Base = ebony, amber, patchouli, leather, musk.

Guess by Marciano for Men is moderate sillage with fresh, citrus, and spicy notes. I like the combination of the light mandarin orange and carambola (star fruit), which is a juicy tropical fruit. The spices coalesce together and do not overtake each other, adding a nice united aromatic touch. Patchouli and musk stick out in the base, as does the pepper, ginger and lavender in the head, creating a subtle, but appealing, masculine scent.

I see similarities to Claiborne's Spark Seduction scent, which incidentally has the same amber glass bottle color as this one. Both are peppery and accent the fruity accords nicely.

Longevity is a bit weak, but this scent is good enough for me to layer. Feels great for nearly any temperature and occasion.

The opening is a generic sweet scent mixed with something vegetal. Sorry, that's the best way I can describe it. I find it to be on the juvenile side. The sweetness in the drydown reminds me of Thalium but do not confuse this with anything that projects. Becomes a skin scent in the first hour. However, it does have surprising longevity. Lasts all workday.

I like it, certainly a masculine scent but not easily classified into athlete, player, or preppy -- perhaps more mindful of a professional dad --- goes from office to evening to weekend family time.

enjoyably unique but not enough so as to be a stand out, seems something is missing. I will use it up, but probably won't replace it when it is gone.

Only herbal-spicy in the opening, definitely black pepper, lavender, and sage in a dry accord… The opening and the heart accords cooperate in their delivery with a heavily spicyness that is quite rustic and non-synthetic. I think the accusations of synthetics is caused by the aromatic potency of the rosemary and star fruit: a weird combination. The sharpness of violet roughens up and screechifies the whole delivery of the two top accords but, as unsophisticated as I find them, I still enjoy the experience.

The base turns anonymously woody, sweetened just a bit by some musk and amber.

Guess by Marciano 2009 is a quirky scent, lacking in sillage and longevity, but who cares... it's just one of those lovable cheapies.

On the initial spray you get a spicy burst and yes, it is synthetic, but it has a great peppery/amber aroma.

Vanilla kicks in a half hour later and then it starts to die down, just like some reviewers say, it has a short life or it is close to the skin.

I like it, it's a not so sweet peppery amber scent. It sort of reminds me a bit of Ricci's Memoire D'Homme which is a bit airy.

Decent cheapie that is not bad for what I paid for it ($17.00). Strong shot of amber followed by a synthetic wood and spice. I use this one before going to the gym.
