HOVE – HELIOTROPE
Heliotrope is one of my very favorite scents, so it is always a disappointment to discover perfumers combining cherry, vanilla and almond and saying, “Voila – Heliotrope.” I beg to differ. Heliotrope’s light vanilla-like scent has nothing to do with cherries or almonds. Only Guerlain in its masterful Apres L’Ondee and L’Heure Bleue have been able to master the note.
Hove’s take on the soliflore is a very light vanilla with hovering way in the background a combination of notes resembling Mugler’s Angel, which is not a bad thing in small doses. It is very pleasant and wears close to the skin.
Although not “echt,” it is a pleasant and welcome addition to the attempts to capture this elusive floral scent.
