When i first got a sample of this I put it away, unhappy with the use of chocolate in what I'd hoped would be a milestone modern tobacco.
That was many months ago.
I still loathe the whole gourmand trend and pine for modern fragrances that smell like the 70s, 80s and even 90s.
Well, I stumbled upon my sample and tried again and lo and behold, I think I get it this time. The chocolate sort of extends the tobacco and if you don't dwell on it, it doesn't really smell chocolatey. In fact it's actually a very nice tobacco scent.
It reminds me, and this might sound weird, but it reminds me of a the smell of this guy who my parents paid to teach me guitar. He'd come over for an hour or so once a week and give me lessons. This would've been 1976 or '77.
I think he wore patchouli oil and he smelled of cigarettes, but whatever it was, this smells similar. Similar enough that it flashed me back almost 50 years!
Oh, and try as I did, I just couldn't get the hang of the guitar. I went through a few left-handed guitars that were impossible to resell except for parts, but that's another story.
The bottom line here is that I was too hasty in my initial reaction to this fragrance, I quite enjoy it and believe I'll seek a full bottle.
