Hove – Limes des Buras

I have read that Hove is intensely private about its ingredients and note trees, but this seems to my nose to be somewhat simple and linear. Very strong, very bitter, very dry lime assaults my nose upon first application. This is identical to the strong scent of the original Mr. Clean, a concentrated cleaning product. I say this not to be derogatory, but to help the reader identify a similar concentration of the lime experience.

There is no sweetness, no roundness in the dry down. I keep waiting for floral heart notes or woody base notes to emerge, but in vain. I find it odd that this is in their luxury line, usually reserved for composed scents, rather than in their standard line, where one finds their soliflore compositions.

This, like all Hove products, is available in perfume, solid perfume and cologne concentrations. I am sampling the cologne version and as it is so strong, I can only imagine that the perfume concentration differs only in its longetivity, for it is hard to believe this being worn in a stronger scent profile. Within a half hour the cologne has begun to fade and becomes more wearable.

So, there it is: dry, bitter, strong lime. Not for the faint of heart.
