I was sent a sample of this extrait prior to its release, & according to the website, there may have been further tweaks in the pipeline. At the time, the only notes given were Laos oud & Suyufi agarwood, although a review quoted on the site mentioned spices & vanilla. The name is apparently derived from the Latin for "play" or "a game".

It is intensely woody, with a noticeable hint of the "band aid" type of oud, but it's not especially barnyard-like. There are subtle spicy notes as it unfolds, & two hours in there is a sweetness. l wouldn't call it vanilla, but more of an amber base with perhaps some tonka, & if l sniff very closely l detect a faintly lemony frankincense. lt's quite soft at this point, & almost gone after six hours. Hours later though, the scent still lingers on the sleeve of my robe, & I notice a similarity with Tom Ford's Sahara Noir!

l am certainly no expert on oud fragrances, but l suspect this is one that most will find to be on the more friendly, less challenging side. lt's pleasantly comforting, & l think it will work well in autumn & winter, for any gender.
