This begins as an aldehydic floral with iris, heliotrope & an unusually realistic hawthorn note. I also sense hyacinth here, although it's not listed. Half an hour in it's a little sweeter, with vanilla & sweet violet joining the hawthorn to produce a rather lovely spring floral accord. Other reviews I've come across make much of the rose note in this fragrance, but that's one thing that I don't get here at all. The projection is low to moderate, & five hours in, there's little further development except for a faint whiff of sandalwood in the base, but it's still detectable on my skin after twenty hours. Outstanding tenacity for something so delicate!

There's a coldness to this scent, despite the sweetness, evoking for me a bunch of purple flowers dusted with snow. It's quite delightful, & perfect for springtime.

The story on the Aqua de Luna website makes me sad - the German perfumer with his bag of beloved life works, perfume creations and oils, going on the Titanic to the USA to try to make a name for himself. He survived the sinking but lost his creations to the bottom of the sea - until they were found recently, long after their makers' death. Night Star is a lovely scent but my sympathy for the creator gives it too much melancholy for me to really enjoy freely. Scents of Time have tried to weave a whole new story around it but that doesn't work for me; the real story is Adolphe's.

I am not sure if the connection to Titanic makes me want this perfume more or less. However, I can simply say that the well thought combination of Rose Jacqueminot (which I have had a chance to smell in a botanic garden recently) and the amazing Lily of the Valley along Bergamont and Lavender has this romantic touch that I know so well from some other classics. If Adolphe Sallfeld would agree to this combination or not, I myself believe that Christopher Sheldrake has created a new classics among the other successful fragrances that carry his signature. Vanilla and Mayflower complete the seducing scent that I can highly recommend to everyone who is or wants to be in love. Just as we all have seen on the Titanic, though what we connect is more from the movie than reality. This latest release from Scents Of Time will be a hit in my personal opinion. It is released btw and not as stated above in production (I own it) and also available now in the US by their new distributor aquadeluna.com (for those folks that are in the states as I am will be pleased to hear that)

This is very beautiful feminine fragrance and its available in USA at www.aquadeluna.com You can even order a sample before you buy it. There is a holiday promotion going on right now, so its a good chance to try it. I personally love this!!!! Its actually was inspired by the samples they found on the Titanic a few years ago. The base for this fragrance is a very rare Rose, and it does smell like a flower from another planet!!!
