NIKKI – Orloff (1942)
It was during the 1930's to 1940's that Jean Vivaudou produced several perfumes under or with the name of Orloff Perfumes. The Orloff perfumes comprised eleven scents, ranging from 1920 to 1945. The Jean Vivaudou Company used a wide variety of stylized containers for their cosmetics, but the bottles for the Orloff perfumes were unique. All of the perfumes seem to share a Russian theme. The bottles are stunning, and quite gothic. The double eagle makes a unique and attractive flacon, and the logo has been silk screened together with a layer of gold paint that has been applied directly on the bottle. These are heavy glass with a metal screw top. (Written by Alexandra Star).
Nikki is a green woody floral which is quite old-fashioned, having arrived in either 1939 or 1942, depending on one’s source. It is strong and quite green as it develops. Initially, one is struck by the soft woody background and the emerging floral combo of rose and chrysanthemum, the latter rarely used in perfumery. This note gives it an autumnal impression, helped by the hay-like note of artemisia. The overall effect is that of a complex fougere.
Notes are: Orange Blossom, Bergamot, Rose, Chrysanthemum, Cedar, Sandalwood, Carnation, Clove, Lily, Lilac, Artemisia, Oak Moss.
Hard to find, but a very nice floral for the mature woman.
