Mineralic, soft earth, bitter citrus, fir tree and cut green pepper. Stays this way for an hour or so then the greens soften and a semi-sweet lemon cookie sits on the cool soil in the forest. Totally characteristic of the brand and at heart, similar rain-on-rocks-and-trees vibe as all their other stuff. Slight Northern Cardinal by Zoologist (2022) vibe: aerosol citrus, dry pine forest, cut bell pepper, and slight musky sweetness on dry down. The mineralic components particularly in the open and through heart throw me off and lose my interest. Otherwise a fine, vibrant, spring-inflected scent.
The woody-ambers that show up (although not heavy-handedly) do this perfume zero favors: they do not imitate mossiness, they do not add resinoid nuance—they in fact undermine with vulgarity the imago of the naturalistic yet utterly informed, contemporary intellectuality this perfume—and this brand—seems to aspire to cultivate.
Fischersund walks the line of disingenuousness with their mode of precious, pseudo-countrified urbanity, but creeping, misjudged doses of amberwoods will kill that master any day. They also make the base of your indie-niche perfume smell like you bought it at the mall.
