"S" was the initial scent of Elsa Schiaparelli's 46 (according to the Perfume Intelligence Encyclopedia), launched in 1928 as both a parfum and an edt. It was re-issued in 1961.

I recently purchased a half ounce parfum, still sealed with a plug, with a double cap, one screwed, one popped on.

This is described by PI as a "bitter sweet" scent, based on lillies and hyacinth. It is very rich but light, not heavy, with a slighly green, amber base beneath the florals. I don't get any really bitter notes, nor any sweet notes. It's just a very beautiful floral without any distinct floral notes. First edit: It dries down to a spicy clove scent.

It floats lightly, the aura of a lady.
