Patchouli isn’t listed as a note, but I definitely pick up plenty of it alongside vanilla and amber. It’s essentially a sweet patchouli, softened by vanilla and tonka. There isn’t much complexity beyond those notes, but that makes it quite likable, easy to wear, and totally unisex. As I’ve mentioned before, I wouldn’t buy anything from the Floraïku line, but this is one of my favorites—though not as interesting as One Umbrella for 2 or I See the Clouds Go By, which feature more distinctive fruity accords. You’ve probably smelled something similar before. I don’t find it very close to Grand Soir, since that lacks the patchouli note present here. This one works well for colder seasons and is among the stronger, darker offerings from the line.

A rather pretty amber perfume. I find that traditional amber perfumes come in three basic recipes: the classic kind that's benzoin-forward and often powdery and musky with civet, the 00's kind that's more sandalwood-heavy and not powdery, and the modern kind that's smoky and often includes oud. Ricochet is a clever mix of the bezoin kind and the sandalwood kind, with papery tobacco tonka in there as well. It has the bezoin of a 60's amber, but is brought into modernity by the sawdusty sandalwood and the currently-trending tonka and sweet vanilla.

My only qualm is that I don't like the marshmallow-sweet vanilla, so I'm downgrading this to a neutral, though I recognize that I'm being very picky. Worth a sniff.

Tonka bomb. Heady. Dark. The other notes flank the Tonka, going arm in arm. Oriental, resin fun. Linear. Semi-sweet. Basic. Notes here usually used for a perfume base, are straight up, in your face.

Becomes creamer later, more gourmand. Nice!
