A luminous, creamy vanilla paired with radiant hesperides, sunny orange blossoms, white flowers, juicy red fruits and complemented by benzoin, creamy woods and soapy tobacco (preferably tobacco blossom). I detect a touch of aldehydes (providing a vaguely classic vibe) plus creamy patchouli. The effect is a sunny, exotic, optimistic and simply irresistible creaminess. Jil Sander Sun is a creamy, exotic fragrance that feels like stepping into a endless summer. Its warm blend of citrus, soft florals and velvety vanilla evokes sun-kissed skin and the gentle hush of turquoise waves. There is a sort of "sun tanning foam like" consmetical balmines in it as well and on skin Sun smells like a by sun kissed skin after a "tropical sun tanning session" (warm and erotic). Radiant and comforting, it carries the dreamy allure of faraway South Pacific islands, lush, serene and bathed in golden light. It's a real shame about the rather poor performance, especially in terms of longevity on the skin but the fragrance (created for Jil Sander by the expert nose of Pierre Bourdon and introduced on the market in the far 1989) is truly captivating, modern and uplifting. Certainly an initial crisp bergamot but above all orange blossoms, syrupy jasmine, creamy sandalwood and vanilla are the key factors of this fragrance. Tobacco gives it a vaguely exotic, dusty and soapy touch a la Tabac Original by Maurer & Wirtz (1959, hesperides/orange blossoms/florals/dusty tobacco/creamy sandalwood/musk plus oakmoss and piney virile notes) but in a modern more feminine, fruitier and radiant way. I could have sworn there was ylang-ylang in the formula (and in fact, as a type of fragrance, I notice a more than vague resemblance to the wonderful Perris Montecarlo Ylang Ylang Nosy Be 2014. Benzoin gives a musky effect and the white flowers enrich the formula, giving it a lush and vaguely tropical tone. The note of benzoinic vanilla smells definitely musky, radiant and with a touch of something vaguely almondy-heliotropic a la Boucheron Jaipur Pour Homme (1998). A small but wonderful creation to be recommended to an optimistic young woman who looks to the future with brightness and proactivity, living life like in a dreamy neverending summer.

A bit of sunny florals, a bit of understated fruit, and a bit of subtle, not too sweet vanilla. The outcome is juicy, sunny, warm and happy. Nice.

Sun's opening is a creamy suntan lotion and soft florals like the kind you'd get in fabric softener. It's all light, airy, beachy and clean...quite pleasant. Makes me think of smelling clean laundry at the beach. The drydown is more powdery and flat.

I don't have an issue wearing this, so I'd say unisex.

Projection is average but I get good longevity, lasts all workday.

This starts off bright & effervescent, with a fruity element more akin to sherbet powder than juice or pulp. After a few minutes, it settles into a warm, milky, fruity floral, mostly lily, although it is hard to distinguish notes here. There's also something vaguely leathery lurking beneath, but it's not a heavy, tanned leather, more the scent of warm human skin. Three hours in there's a vanilla sweetness, & twelve hours in it's still humming away softly, with a soapy feel to the base.
Another reviewer describes this most aptly as a cross between expensive soap & posh suntan lotion. It's beachy, but sophisticated; no coconut & nothing overtly tropical here. It's simply a lovely, classy but casual scent which I think would work well for any relaxed occasion in warm weather. It also reminds me strongly of something else, especially in the opening. Perhaps a body product I've used or a place I've been, maybe even a Lush shop??

This is quite an ingenious composition, with the fruity-bergamot opening developing seamlessly into a floral drydown of muguet and jasmine, with an aromatic orange tone noticeable throughout; benzoin is evident too. Soon an interesting tonka impression together with patchouli is added, and the whole results in a nice suntan lotion effect, as if worn on the beach on a hot day.

On my skin there are reminiscences of Bond No.9's Fire Island, but JS's Sun is a touch earthier with woodsy componenent. I get strong sillage, very good projection and eight hours of longevity on my skin. A nice scent. 3.3/5
