Arte Orafa, created by Julien Rasquinet for Salvatore Ferragamo, allegedly lifts its structure from Frederic Malle's The Moon (also a Rasquinet creation). I've never smelled The Moon, so I'll take folks at their word on that.

This is a raspberry-forward creation, with a tart, rounder variation on the raspberry made famous by Tuscan Leather. There's something almost sour about the note here that gives it an extra, appealing depth. The raspberry blends in with a vegetal vetiver, some olibanum, and a warm, agreeable oud accord (of the dry, medicinal, nutty type).

It's nothing earth-shattering, but it's polished. Arte Orafa could be worth a look if you're in the mood for a modern oud that eschews the typical rose-floral accompaniment.
