Basically, Squid - but done better. Its smoother, smokier, and without that disturbing blubbery "tentacle" accord that makes me gag. The dry down is mostly benzoin, incense, and airy marine notes. There are some oceanic aspects of Aqua di Sale in Unda Maris, but this is much darker, deeper, and better smelling than the Roma, which I find completely unwearable. Overall, a grand oceanic fragrance, satisfying and elegant on top of it. A bit salty, warm, wet and smoky.

Unda Maris is an oddball aquatic, built around clean, watery tones with creamy lily and slightly liturgical incense. This blend of oceanic and incense elements might make this an avant-garde alternative to Acqua di Gio Profumo, but in character it is more akin to the likes of Aqua di Sale and Finisterre: mature and aromatic.

I came to love it in the warm weather months, in which its darkness came to add an extra cooling touch to the already refreshing marine tones, with the frankincense adding a subtle, intriguing shimmer.
