Energizing Fragrance

A typical 'clean' fragrance from Shiseido - light fresh florals that dry down to an easy wearing wood and musky base. Understated, easy going, and a reminder of youth.

Energizing captures the trend of simple and bright - radiant, pretty florals, just the lightest touch of scent, vibrant green and pink, walking through a well maintained garden with full blossom.

Top notes are reminding me of a sparkling beverage. Club soda and some mystery syrup poured in. It has a citrusy vibe without actually containing any citrus. Green leaves, clove, and pepper fool my nose.

Anise, jasmine, and LOTV take the lead in the middle phase. Every note so far seems juicy. No dryness here! EF tickles the nose, awakens. Rose moves in next. A bright, red rose... Jasmine, LOTV, and rose hog the spotlight. They drown any iris or heliotrope that could be here, as I don't actually detect those notes. No worries! I have enough fragrances with those flowers. I enjoy what is here, as this is a splendid refresher.

Settles with sharpness - woods? I don't get any here. Musk is faint at best. Rose lasts on and on.

Shiseido's Energizing Fragrance is one of those perfumes that no one realizes you're wearing. Instead of telling you they like your perfume, a person is more likely to tell you that you simply smell nice. Clean, warm and rather uncomplicated peppery floral musk, Energizing Frangrance strikes the nose as a minimal and transparent; the aesthetics seem to fit with the brand in a really coherent way. Somehow this seems like the perfect post workout fragrance.

I'm not sure I would characterize the fragrance as energizing as much as enervating. Between what smells like anise and a very rich datura aroma, I find the perfume evocative of something very carnal and reptile-brained. I love it.

I got this bottle after buying the zen and loving it. (I haven't been able to find a bottle of that lately, and I really miss it.) I think it's really nice and fresh. On me, it picks up notes of powder that I really quite like.
