Short-lived blossoms can wow when they are truly special, otherwise the happy shopper will usually alight on something else.
I have a soft spot for powdery scents, so I gave Kama a spin. Opening impressions were of an understated powdery rendition of the mixed floral theme, with the only twist being a dash of citrus up top. But with time the powder came into its own, revealing the subtle toasty qualities of rice, and red roses begin to peek through the florals with a touch of warm vanilla rounding things off. Much as I liked it, Kama seemed a perfume of inflection rather than statement, a bit on the quiet side. I considered it fondly for a few hours, until it all but vanished leaving just some generic sweetish powder behind.

powdery musk. I don't smell the rose, just musky musk and powder.

This is a nice scent: a soft rose and a smooth musk. The petit grain of the opening lasts for just seconds, and I get no grapefruit at all... this opening part of its performance could stand to be better. Kama has a powdery musk and a nearly non-existent rose as its basic accord. Smelled as sillage I get a lot of powder… Smelled close to the skin I get an oily note that smells like it shouldn't be there; this note is possibly caused by the patchouli or the ambergris or perhaps by the combination of the two. The musk and rose are quite feminine to my nose and create an aura that reminds me more of makeup more than of anything else. If you don't smell it too close to the skin, Kama is a pretty fragrance. It is smoother and more refined than… say, Kiehl's Original Musk, but it just doesn't come off to me as very impressive.
Rose and musk. And then just musk. And a little patchouli. There's not much to this scent and it's not as interesting as the others from this house. It's a very rich and good musky note, I will give it that much.
