La Favorite deploys the great olfactory airbrush that is white musk (aka clean musk) to supposedly touch a Middle Eastern theme (rose-oud-patchouli) with Western polish. On this evidence, it's a ploy that misfires, with the wearer left with little more than some vaguely scented nail varnish for a long time. The musk bleaches out everything, thus the rose feels watered down, the ‘oud' little more than a gesture at some vaguely peppery woody aromachemical, the whole a dilute and out-of-focus sweet little nothing gesturing at Barbie's boudoir. As the musk haze disperses a bit with wear, what emerges is a sub-Montale rose-and-wood by numbers job of no particular interest.

Evidently another oud-rose creation, one of many over the last few years. A spicy undertone in the middle and a patchouli-musk-wood base, with the patchouli showing hints of sharpness at times, are added in the base.

The performance is not excellent but still solid, with moderate sillage, very good projection and six hours of longevity.

Quite synthetic and a bit generic, but not bad - mediocre it is. Ok for autumn. Amongst the flood of similar fragrances released in recent years this one does not stand out in any exciting way. 2.25/5.
