Primo Notte Blu

A fantastic contemporary and elegant "Blue" fragrance, a dark, romantic, rounded and enigmatic perfume, halfway between the great but more floral and complex Joop Nightflight (1992), the immense but more impenetrable, marine, woody and dark Guy Laroche Horizon (1993) and new intuitions such as Emper Night Star (2024), JPG Le Beau Le Parfum (2022) or Davidoff Indigo (2025). Primo Notte Blu by Trussardi is a woody-fruity-aquatic fragrance for men launched in 2026. It is a serene and meditative perfume that evokes deep midnight blue, with floral/musky and slightly woody hints, with juicy, fresh spicy (ginger) and fleshy fruity opening notes, with an aromatic lavender and a hazelnut as a base note that rounds out the cedary and amber base. A fragrance that starts off intense and juicy, green/aromatic and dark, and finishes more rounded and super fancy and elegant (perfect for starry summer nights or a romantic late-spring dinner outdoors in Southern Europe). The drydown creates a perfect balance between exotic fruity notes, floral hints, aromatic notes and a rounded finish where the hazelnut note produces a nutty, vaguely chocolatey-tonkinian touch that's absolutely smooth and warm. Trussardi Primo Notte Blu Eau de Parfum opens with a fresh and vibrant grapefruit and ginger note, with a vaguely clean, salty marine sensation, like a vague hint of the sea on the skin in the evening after a shower and the scent of seaweed in the air. After a few minutes, a modern, charismatic, elegant and non-barbershop lavender emerges, mixed with aquatic, mineral and floral notes that make it "blue" but not in a "muscular" or overly "exercising" way. The base becomes warmer and velvety: amber, light woods and a dry, creamy hazelnut that doesn't smell like a sweet dessert but adds softness and sensuality with its nutty notes. The overall effect is that of a balanced, fresh yet nocturnal masculine scent, more elegant and relaxed than muscular and youthful. In my opinion, it's a romantic fragrance, à la Joop Nightflight, but with a more composed style (less almondy and floral) and urban (probably less poetic and lush than Joop's masterpiece but more in line with the minimal, essential look of the modern man), with very composed marine notes that prevent the fragrance from being a tried-and-true clone of dozens of blue fragrances out there. Performance on the skin is more than positive, and the final result deserves compliments. The bottle is spectacular. Bravo, Trussardi.
