Latest Reviews of Sandalwood
So I bought this Jo Malone dupe blind in hopes of familiarizing myself with orris and/or scoring a cheapie sandalwood I could spritz with abandon or perhaps use to get a little more projection out of some precious drops of mysore sandalwood essential oil that I have been meting out over the past decade. (I wore and adored Samsara back in the 20% mysore days and have never found an adequate replacement.)
Well … this scent does neither. It's straight-up violet leaf on me, with a hint of violet and the merest smidge of cedar. Perhaps someone familiar with the orris note would experience this differently, or maybe this is a skin chemistry issue, but I cannot detect anything even vaguely in the direction of what I think orris is supposed to smell like. The violet leaf soliflore is gone within two hours, leaving no discernible drydown of anything else.
Quite pretty, if you like violet leaves.
