Latest Reviews of Velvet & Oud
Just wanted to start off by saying that I never smelled the original Jo Malone Velvet rose & Oud so I can't do a comparison. This was a blind buy for me since most people on Youtube seemed to like it but I was a little shocked when I actually smelled. The opening smells horrible, it's as if you blended a burnt rose soap and heated olive oil. I couldn't stand it and immediately thought of washing it off but I thought I'd give it more time since a lot of perfumes have a bad opening. After 30 minutes or so, I started to smell the rose & Oud. It was slowly becoming more of a soft, more enjoyable scent. Don't know what were the fruity accords used for the opening and I cannot really guess it but it's either that they're really bad or the notes are not blended nicely. It lasted on my skin for about 5 hours and the sillage is okay, at an arm's length. If you're looking for a soft rose & oud perfume or you're a beginner at Oud then I recommend getting this one if you can get past the opening. Will definitely layer it with another perfume that is either a vanilla or musk.
